Never Ever use paypal for sales on EBay

I have just had a terrible experience selling something on eBay.

I just sold 2 Bitcoins on eBay, the buyer won the auction, he appeared to have 100% positive feedback, he paid using EBays Paypal which had worried me, but you are given no choice but to allow paypal otherwise it's against ebay's terms.

Anyway the guy snatched back the money a week later by opening a dispute saying he never received the item, because it's an electronic currency paypal always side on the buyer.

When i sent the coins electronically there is no way they could not arrive, and it's dead easy to check the buyer received them which he had.

Anyway after 2 weeks Paypal sided on the buyer, and so i thought oh well lesson learnt, so i went to leave negative feedback for him using ebays feedback system, but negative feedback had gone and i could only leave positive feedback GRRRR.
So having left positive feedback saying the guy is a fraudulent snatch back thief i felt robbed by paypal and ebay for letting him get away with this.

Worse when i looked carefully at his positive 100% feedback it turned out he had 2 other very angry positive feedbacks which in hind sight obviously ebay had forced others to leave as positive instead of negative.

EBAY and PAYPAL are supporting criminal activity and as usual it's the honest person that pays

We need an alternative to ebay, ones thats trustable.

I deleted my paypal account and will not use my ebay account anymore,
If i want an item on ebay, i will contact the buyer outside of ebay and pay using bank transfers in future.

Thats my anger vented.
Please sellers be very careful.

I don't really see how blaming PayPal when you didn't even read the basics about protection can be correct.

Intangible items are not covered unless you send a tracked hard copy to the address that PayPal supply. If you can't or won't do that then surely using a different venue would be better for you

Also, you were in breach of eBay rules by selling Intangible goods as well.so lucky not to get a warning

The feedback rules changed about 6 years ago.

Before using any site that involves money, it really does pay to do the basic checks and work out how to protect yourself and stay within the rules. eBay and PayPal are fine, as long as you keep your wits about you and exercise a bit of common sense.

lastly, if you intend using bank transfers to pay in future I would seriously do your homework otherwise it won't be long before you are back on here telling us how you were scammed and can't get your money back.

    Agree with Soolin.

Hope you used the report a buyer feature. If too many claims are made against a buyer - Ebay say they take action.

Other than that, sending via email is always a risk - thats why ebay banned it.

But when they put the claim in - you could have posted the item with tracking (depending if worth it value wise) - and then uploaded that to Ebay.

As for the headline - never use Paypal on Ebay - well how exactly can you sell then?

Used Paypal for years on Ebay, never had a problem. Buying or selling. Got my money back for goods not received no problem and have not had any problems when i've had to phone them.

Yeah i guess it is my fault for trying to sell something on ebay.

Indeed i have filed a report against the buyer.

Christ what is it with digital currency anyway, do we not live in a digital world.

Why would anyone use ebay to sell something if it's possible for someone to snatch back and have a chance of paypal going against you.

It seems to me that all the protection is aimed at the buyer not the seller, the fact thats it's not even possible to leave negative feedback against the buyer feels wrong.

Are you saying that someone can also snatch back a bank transfer, because i asked my bank and they assured me thats not possible.

The important lesson here, is that someone can have a 100% positive feedback but this is worthless unless you personaly verify each individual feedback yourself as there may well be negative feedback that show as positive.

You can no longer rely on ebays feedback system to tell you if the person is safe.

Since you stated you would be paying via bank transfer you have just explained to yourself why you would be foolish to do so.

you are also getting confused about feedback and safety. Feedback does not give you any protection, you need to be reading the PayPal emails you receive every time you receive a payment that explains what you need for seller protection.

Also, if you have left your buyer lovely positive feedback I am sure anyone else he tries to scam will be really pleased.

Sellers don't routinely read a buyers feedback, they just see a good high number and assume all is well. Also, many sellers block low feedback buyers with no credit card or PayPal account, so congratulations to all those sellers who bump up the feedback and allow those buyers to scam others.
