just had a look. The average seems to be around £16 - £20 for 7 sachets, which is 7 meals? Someone is selling a week's worth for £66. Is it any/much different to Slim Fast ? (I've lasted 3 days once on that)

Sorry for delay in replying - come home from work!

It's different to slimfast in that - although you are onfood replacement packs - you also have to attend a group for 2 hours a week to undergo cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). It's the CBT that makes it a success. Basically it's about changing the way you think about food in order to change the way you behave around food. I really do believe - from experience - that unless you do that and stop using food inapproriately then you simply will put all the weight back on again.

It costs £66 a week - yes, it's pretty pricey. But you also have to consider that you won't be spending any money on food and you also get 2 hrs counselling a week as well.

For me it's such a priority that I'm prepared to work round the cost. And of course it helps that I have the equity from our house sale kicking around and I guess I'm using the money as an investment in myself. Also, in order to have a family, DH and I have to have fertility treatment, and we can't have that until I'm at a sensible weight - which i am now!!!!! :j

Storm - I've no idea what size I am!! That's part of the problem! I have 2 pairs of jeans that fit - one size 16 and the other size 18! My leggings are a 14 and my shirts range from 18 to 22! Big boobs!

I actually applied to run a franchise for Lighter Life when I lost my job last year, but the stress of a tribunal etc got the better of me and I gave it up in the end. I went on one of their training courses and I was very impressed with the concept.

Glad to hear you life is going in the right direction too!!:T

I'd love to be a lighterlife counsellor but can't afford the £14k startup fees!

ironically, I could afford the start up fees as I was made redundant 10 days ago, but as I don't have a full time job now (other than AQA which I'm seeing how it goes working all day) I can't justify spending that amount each week.

Weird catch 22 type of thing. Also, as I am overweight it probably wouldn't be a good advert for me to have a Lighter Life franchise!

I like the CBT idea, i've read up on it before. Paul McKenna uses it.

Glad to see the parties are back. I miss out on the Fri nights as thats when I go out. Some people can be right miserable bu**ers can't they? There's nothing wrong with a drink and a natter, after all as my dad says an empire was built on tea. Re the weight loss, has anyone read the book called "The No Diet Diet". I might have to get my copy back from my mate as gravity is winning over my waistline. As my ex once said "You do have an hourglass figure , trouble is most of your sand is at the bottom"
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

Hello, have you had your tea yet or 'dinner' if your in a different social strata than myself?

We've had moneysaving baked potato and veg curry.

It was moneysaving because I didn't want to cook and the veg was starting to go off and I wanted to buy something else. But I made myself go into the kitchen and cook it, and very nice it was to.:p
