Unhappy Car Sale - Interesting Update

            I'd stop listing it.
Have you tried cartake back? At the price you were willing to accept scrapping it could be just as easy.
Bang it on gumtree for free as well.
As before, classified advert, first with the cash gets it rather than messing about with an auction.
I think "re-listed due to timewaster" actually makes others think "what's wrong with the car?" rather than believing you have been messed about, even when you have said spares/repair.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0

Yes I would remove his bid, probably a youngster with no means of transporting it
Change your listing to 'Bidders with a feedback of less than 20 please contact before bidding or your bid will be removed'
Just looked at your ad, you need to put 'Spares or Repair no Tax or MOT Car will need to be taken away on a Trailer or Low Loader' in bold capitals0

I just got a quote from cartakeback and they offered me less than the money it costs to get a skip which is what I want the money for. However, from this ebay listing I have had several cash offers so might look at them if it goes pear shaped again. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

I'm sorry to resurrect this thread. Some of you must be heartily sick of it. I have relisted the car, no Paypal, cash only, no timewasters. I have blocked as many dodgy bidders as possible. Now I have a top bidder who has a feedback of only 4 and he has been a member since the middle of March. He lives in Lancashire. I have sent him a message to point out that the car cannot be driven and he will have to arrange to transport it. No reply. Would you remove his bids if it were you?
We had so much trouble the last time that I am paranoid about this.
It all depends on the car, I've sold 2 cars on Ebay that were taken away by trailer, I live in South Oxfordshire and the first car, a Y reg Audi A4 as a non runner was bought by a guy in Rotherham, the second was a 3 year old Chevrolet Matiz with 5000 miles on the clock, by a guy from Cornwall, both cars were collected by trailer, for the right money people will travel. However, I would be a little nervous of the bidders lack of communication and low feedback.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

Yes and from what I can see, he's not putting in automatic bids so should reply. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

So that will be a no then.
 Exactly.
I wish people would stop spreading panic on this forum.0

Just a quick update. The car went for £310 which I am happy with. The buyer has a lot of good feedback and seems to buy a lot of auto parts. So fingers crossed this time. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Let's hope there is a happy ending on this one, finally.
One point to note - we all had to start somewhere, and a feedback of 4 doesn't mean anyone is dodgy, it just means they haven't traded much. And if someone doesn't reply, there could be all sorts of reasons, from working away to a death in the family. If he hasn't replied 24 hours from the end of the auction, I would cancel the bid, but until then I would wait and see.
I always put the 'bidders with feedback of 10 or less please contact first or bids removed' comment if it's a high-value item, and I have removed bids as a consequence - no excuse for this, as they must be at the computer to make the bid, so it's just laziness or a bad attitude on their part. But I am reasonably tolerant of other issues. I have made well over 200 transactions on ebay, and with the exception of a couple of d*ckheads, the people I have dealt with have been honest and straightforward. Not everything is a scam, although it pays to be cautious and do your research. A lot can be learned from someone's bid history and feedback comments. If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0

You are risking having your auction pulled by eBay for unfair terms, not to mention the fact that you are seriously baiting auction wreckers who love nothing more than to wind up people with unenforceable terms.

No, they don't. Bid snipers will bid for you in the last seconds without you being anywhere near a computer. You can't do a thing about it and you certainly can't exclude someone with lower feedback who uses a sniper.

How would you feel if you had not been allowed to bid on something when you first joined ebay?
 Your 'terms' are unenforceable.0

Well, I can understand this but with us its a case of once bitten twice shy and just we want to sell the car, no offence to anyone.
However, our bidder is from Essex and is coming tonight with a truck and cash so I am happy with that. I will let you know if this doesn't come off but I won't post again if it does. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
