and what if the father is finacially icapable?
then the mother should be the only one blamed?

the kids are here ... end of story. rather than telling the mother that she is a waste of space, she should be encouraged to manage her finances, as clearly there is sufficient going into the household

As I said, even if you were working, 6 children is still a massive bleed on the tax payer.

To be honest I think anyone having kids should be forward thinking and think what if I did split up or lose my job, would I be able to provide for my kids? If the answer is no then perhaps they should think of how many they can provide for or how many is reasonable for the state to pay for.

i had 2 kids at the age of 19. both i and my ex huscand worked full time.

if everyone planned for single parenthood properly ... no one would ever have any kids!
  • True for 1 or 2 kids, but having 6???? That's a bit excessive if you don't have a decent savings pot to support them.

Post the link where I said she was a "waste of space". Fact is,like many other posters I suggested she needs to adjust to the new rules.

Quite right. I'm not really sure what sort of advice the OP is asking for other than for us to tell her to change her way of living. She could do an SOA on the debt free board so we can help her cut down on outgoings..... benefit cuts or not, she is still getting more than enough to live and feed her kids.

  • Due to the new cap I lose over £90 a week plus get an £800 council tax bill. I am a single mum of 6 under 12's and can't make ends meet as is. Trying like mad to find a job but 12mths with no luck, I don't live in an area where there are many. Haven't slept properly for months worrying about it and it seems there is no-one to help.
I am heading for a return to bankruptcy, loosing my rented council house and I've even considered the long term possibility that I can't afford to feed my children and having to have them placed with foster family's!!!! Desperate for advice. I can't even afford to phone the CAB helpline this week! It's been months since I have even managed to escape my overdraft. Surely I am not alone in this situation. How can we put kids in this poverty....new shoes a warm home and food should be important to our children! We don't drink smoke or even go holiday no luxuries here just bills!
Don't judge me or my kids we are not claiming through choice!

You can't live on 26grand net? Sorry but you need to adjust to the situation and cut back in some areas because the government are being more than generous in giving you 26000 pounds that is more than most people earn in a year.
Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked

By looking at the previous posts you can take it
the OP is 32, used to working in the banking industry, was married for six years husband left her with all the debts, she went bankrupt when she was 23 and left him.. He had run up debts of 13k.
I dont know if she had all the children before going bankrupt or some after

She is now a lone parent on whatever benefit subject to the Cap.

Not the best start to any life is it.
and she cant change it now all she can do is get on with it the best she can.
There has been some good advice on here she will not be the first or the last

I wonder though if she will have any more children?

Again, this thread isn't about you. There's no need to keep inserting yourself into the story.
