  • How is 700 out of a 2200 salary too much to pay?

You go on about needing material things and you'll be sorted - what material things do you. You're deluding yourself when you need to be honest.

I totally get where the OP is coming from.

Gambling is addictive, because you CAN win. It's dream-chasing and you feel a tremendous buzz when you get a decent win. I've been there.

I believe gambling is becoming more prevalent these days as loans are becoming harder to attain. Debt consolidation is becoming harder than ever.

I don't see gambling as inherently bad, as it's a form of entertainment and can give a sense of "hope." You have to be able to live with yourself and your decision if you lose.

Like anything, if you really want to do it, you have to budget for it. I'm talking £20 a month or something really. When you are missing out on the rent or behind on debt repayments due to gambling losses, it's a real issue and leads to further guilt and pressure.

I think the OP has some negative beliefs about money and debt. I can relate to that in some way. I would still recommend getting properly onboard with Payplan. £700 a month is a bitter pill to swallow, but it will help you in the long run and stave off bankruptcy.

    Dear Bounce

well done - you have taken a step forward by starting this thread. It's a very brave thing to lay your soul bare on here and admit to your shortcomings.

It may feel that you have an impossible journey before you but you can do it. When adventurers trek to the North Pole they do not look at the horizon ahead but at their feet. They focus on putting one foot in front of the other time after time. So just concentrate on taking the next step because that's how you'll get there - one step at a time.

What might possibly be the next step for you? Seeing a Debt Counsellor? Going to a Gamblers Anonymous meeting? Decide the next small step and take it. Before you know it you'll be making in-roads.

    Good luck
