I am so dubious about eBay, the horror stories scare me but then are many success stories out there too.
Think I'm going for knee length dresses as our wedding reception is in a barn.Debt free other than a mortgage but still always wanting to save money :j.

I know what you mean, but I can't get it out of my head so I've just bitten the bullet and ordered one for now! Knowing my luck it will be great and they'll discontinue itDebt free (if you don't count the mortgage!)0

It'll be a steal if it's of good quality and isn't much to lose if it's not. Let me know the outcome
I have found a seamstress on an internet forum for my home city, thinking about getting her to make one of my BM's dresses (my mum is paying for my cousin's dress) so using her measurements as a sample. Then we can either go ahead and ask her to make the rest or change our plan. I've got until July next year so there isn't any rush at present.Debt free other than a mortgage but still always wanting to save money :j.

Hey Roxie, thanks for the reply. I had thought about that but it feels cheeky. I thought I might ask them to buy their shoes. I will probably get them jewellery as a present. It's so expensive even when you try and keep it cheap!!! Wow that is a good price. Was that from someone on a one off or someone who sells them regularly?Debt free (if you don't count the mortgage!)0 -
I'm trying to choose dresses that aren't overly bridesmaidy and get a balance between something they'll be happy with and something they'll wear again.
I spoke to one bridesmaid about getting jewellery but she liked the idea of cute little wellies instead when I showed her those. I am still going to buy them jewellery for the day, but more costume jewellery than a keepsake. The wellies will probably good for our wedding reception venue with it being outdoors.Debt free other than a mortgage but still always wanting to save money :j.

I bought my bridesmaid dresses from china on eBay! They were about £50 for three, and were perfect I wish I had got myself one
The delivery said something like four weeks, but I had them within two, and they came in such a small package I did think eeeek! But they had just folded them very small so needed hanging up for a couple of months! Mine were chiffon so the creases didn't matter so much. I was really pleased with them though as we're my girls!Married my wonderful husband on 8/9/12 :j0 -

Ah thanks Katie, fingers crossed I have the same experience as you!
Jessycat, I LOVE the idea of wellies. I'm a real country girl so wellies are going to have to come into it somewhere!! There are stepping stones across the river at the inn where we are having our reception, i'm thinking each of us on a stone with wellies on and dresses hitched up to knees!!! :j:j (fingers crossed we don't fall in.....)Debt free (if you don't count the mortgage!)0 -
