all done except for putting the rice in the biriani in SC a bit later on!! making me ravenous though And been listing cookery books on amazon and greenmet all afternoon too!
Now for a sit down and afternoon tea ...0 -
Good day here and got both rooms done with time to spare before going to collect DS from school.
Our kitchen is quite small with not a lot of food cupboard space so we have half a dozen wicker baskets on shelves in the dining room which we store food in. Took them all down and had a good sort through so they are nice and tidy too.
Made a start with collecting clothes and toiletries in a pile in the spare room ready to be packed later in the week.
Wrote up the past week in my diary.
Tomorrow is my hectic day of the week so I may take a gamble on it being the lounge tomorrow and do a bit in there tonight. DH can hoover the furniture in the morning before he goes into work.
I'm not doing any baking this week for our lunches as I'm using up the stuff in the freezer, but today I realised that being that bit more sorted it isn't the work up it used to be to baking cakes or flapjacks I used to think it was. I now have the time to enjoy doing these things rather than thinking it would be something I would enjoy if only I had the time.
Just did reading practise with DS and have put the potatoes on to cook for tea. Straight forward sausage, mash and veg this evening.:T...it is not of more importance than daily life, which I have an enduring wish to make as useful and beautiful as possible.

HopeElizzy - Hi the only thing which might help your door is one of those Flash eraser things - I have found these amazing for getting marks, scratches, pen etc off of paintwork, Astonish paste may also help.
Please, what is a flash eraser and where do I get one?I think I know what a flashy eraser is, it's one of those fragranced ones in a zingly colour that little girlslike to collect, but I think a flash eraser might be more up my street.

to get scratches off UPVC and plastic baths, glass etc you need very very fine grade steel wool and lots of patience - yeah i know it sounds drastic but it does work. They use it to polish the edge of mirrors - brings wood up as though it has been polished too. If you have T-Cut in the garage that might do it too0

Thanks for all the replies re: our dd's artwork on the back door. If I wasn't married I could ask folk to come and look at my etchings
I'm sure one of the suggestions will help - I have half a tub of Astonish in the cupboard which is ancient but I'll try with that first. if that doesn't work I'll come back and try either Dusty Kitten's flash eraser, Spiddy 100's Barkeepers Friend (Where can I find this, please?) or Boston_uk's fine grade steel wool.............
I'll let you know"all endings are also beginnings. We just don't know it at the time..."0 -
I cleaned the kitchen (except for the oven)
Chatted with my sis on the phone, had a good moan about our teenage kids.
made hamburgers from scratch (well Mince really) with my lovely patty maker my sister sent me. Worked great with grease proof paper sis!! They were brilliant.
So we had our tea, miraculously without any fights at the table tonight. :T that always helps.
Told 19 year old admirer of my 14 year old daughter that I do NOT want him hanging out with my girl so much and that there is NOT going to be any 'relationship' between them. (I was very tactful, honest!)
Cleaned up the dinner table again, except now my kitchen is a tip again!!!
I'm going to cry!
oh well, it's just a matter of banging the dishes in the dishwasher, I know.. it'll be done in two shakes of a tail's feather.
It never stops... it never stops..

Just have to tell you this..
My girls have been busy with pearler beads all afternoon, and I even let them iron their artworks themselves.
So here's my 8 year old, slip of a girl, barely able to lift the iron, tongue out of her mouth, utmost concentration, ironing her pearler bead heart and she says: "Now I know how to iron, so when I'm grown up and living on my own I can do my own ironing!!"
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Gotta love her.0 -
