Evening chums ,well my neighbours DD turned up to wait for the insurance assessor to turn up and wouldn't you know it the blighter never appeared.I felt so sorry for her as she is really going through it at the moment She had to arrange for someone to 'sit' with her Mum as she said if she came back home to next door she wouldn't understand why she couldn't stay(Mary) bless her is at her wits end and seems to be getting very little help from anyone. She has two brothers and a sister who seem to leave it all to her to sort out simply because she is on her own(her kids are all grown up and her OH skeddadled with a younger model)I gave her lots of tea and sympathy which I hoped helped a bit.She is going frantic though as she says its just getting too much for her to cope with.I feel so sorry as her Mum was such a lovely person and used to swap crossword answers with my late OH as they both had the same newspaper. She would pop her head over the fence and call out to him in the conservatory if she got stuck. To think of her deteriorating like this so quickly is so sad.Mary said she thinks the shock of being moved out of her home hasn't helped as she seems to be going downhill fast. She is living at Mary's at the moment but is constantly asking when they can go 'home' back to next door.Which won't be for quite a while, if at all at this rate if the insurance don't get a move on.
Well the sun came out today, albeit for a short while, but its still very cold.Long range forecast isn't brilliant either.

Julie67 congrats on the new baby in the offing just the thing to get the needles going. How lovely to have a new little one in the family, even if it is so far away.pictures please when it arrives. There is nothing like a new arrival to make me go all soppy I adore children and would have had a dozen if I could,I sadly lost two but had two smashing surviving DDs and my tribe of grandchildren are the lights of my life.

My oldest friends Dd is having twins by IVF and they are hopefully due end of September.Apparently according to her scans they are the size of a lipstick case :) as she will be 12 weeks this Friday I have everything crossed for her as she has really gone through the wringer to have these babies and the two embryos planted both have 'taken' I think my friend and I will go through every ache and pain for her bless her, they are so wanted, and it will be her only chance to be a Mum .
Well time I got a wriggle on and rummaged around for some dinner from the freezer.
    keep warm everyone
    Cheers JackieO xxx

    Hi all,

Thanks for your kind wishes I am excited. Does anyone have a good pattern that's easy and straightforward, I thought I would try a little cardi first. Maybe pale green or lemon as we don't know what we are having yet x Jools our baby's due in October it's not the same family is it! Can you imagine, baby's grandpa in Oz is called Gary .
I've ordered the book and found a forum written by a journalist who has done the diet. She has also wrote a mini book and her experiences on the diet. Have to say it all looks very impressive and from what you've said here it really seems to work. So I'm going to start day one tomorrow.
What have you had to eat today TTFTM I can't imagine not being hungry:D
Thanks for letting me join Halight, loved the chicks, and your beautiful little girls

  • Just finished watching "Nashville" on catch up - pure hokum but very feel good and a guilty pleasure. Plus tonight had a concert at the end from the Ryman Auditorium - as they called it "The Mothership of Country Music". I've been there although like most of our trip 'round the Deep South 10 years ago - it's only since we came back that we realised what a big deal it was (and yes, we went to Gracelands and stayed in the Elvis Presley hotel....).

Been very blowy snowy here today - looked like I was living in a snow globe but as the sun kept coming out (or at one point whilst) we had no snow stick..... but freezing! How those daffodils and tulips are coping I have no idea.... and to think I saw a butterfly last week.... no wonder I had to give it some sugar water as it looked shattered. I hope it found somewhere warm to shelter when it flew off.....

My FIL died recently and he had dementia. Fortunately his descent was rather quick - about 3 years - which is quite quick for the illness. In the end it was his COPD and sepsis that got him but the last six months were very much freefall with things although he could identify people in old forties photos only a couple of days before he went (actually only a few hours before he started slipping in and out of consciousness). Sad.

Not a great deal done today if I'm honest. Got some work in the afternoon but nothing this morning. Which was probably good as I was feeling so awful this morning. I was having a look at various forums last night to see about these side effects and I saw that this treatment is given as standard in the States and has been since the 1980s for people in my situation. Also NICE recommended in 2004 that people in my situation be given this in conjunction with another drug. So that's 2004 when I was first being investigated (although not treated even though I was NHS but I did have a year of blood tests every few days......) for infertility. So I was 9 years younger..... How can one hospital have two departments which are so different? The general surgery were brilliant, the gynae utterly rubbish and only seemed interested in trying to get me to see the same consultant privately and I had to beg for a blood test which showed I'd got a problem with my brain chemistry  No wonder my private IVF doctor was stunned last year when he asked if I'd been tried on this medication and I said "no? Why?"...... I give in, I really do..... one long list of !!!! ups from the start......:( Ah well, I suppose at least I'm on it now and hopefully there will be a miracle even given my age now..... at least the two tablet side effects and subsiding so I can now think about going up to three...

And with that I will wish everyone a good night and hope that tomorrow will be better for so many of us..... I'm off to listen to Radio 4extra and read.... perhaps a quick hand of mah jong first .....
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D
