Morning all,
snowing lightly here too. The snow i can cope with but the cold really gets to me.
Not much going on in my life unfortunately. I did a spot of retail therapy yesterday. Shant be going anywhere today though as its too cold. I must go and say hello to Auntie at some point. Ive been putting it off (bit like my blood test really).
Day 4 off the anti depressants. Almost 4 years has been too long. I need to stop hiding behind the tablets and face things head on.
Jobs for today

Tea tonight i think will be cauliflower cheese. I'm not sure it will be popular but its cheaper than having meat every night and i am trying to cut down costs. I'll sweeten 'Youngest' by doing him a few chips. I can get him to eat most things if i serve chips. He will have had chips two nights running (bad Mummy) but i know he wont complain.
I too have some understanding of dementia. Such a cruel illness. Not so sure if its cruel for the people affected as they seem to be oblivious to it but its awful for those having to live watching it in someone they love.
nlj1520.... Cutting carbs.... easier said than done. What have they suggested you replace them with? Ive cut down my carbs dramatically from what i used to eat but if i eat any less i find i want to binge on chocolate/crisps.

Morning all,
Just put sofa and chair covers in the wm, I'll switch it on when the solar kicks in.
Hi Betheebee. I am REALLY curious about solar power - am I right in thinking you have solar panels? Does this save you a lot of money? I've been told that the initial outlay is so much that it will never recoup the costs - but I don't know if that is just propoganda.... Do you KNOW when it kicks in? Or is it a guess because it looks light enough outside? Sorry for all the questions....:o
Halight. So glad that you had a good night's sleep. I think people were starting to get worried about you!. The chick pics are sooooo cute!
Dementia is an awful thing - my twin sister has Early-Onset Dementia and lives in a care home - she lost her husband and children so now only has mum and me. She can be very ....challenging.
Have a good day all. I'm only at work his am and then off to attend care meeting for my sister. I am her next of kin as mum is not well enough. I won't be ack at work again until Tuesday - yippee!. Gives me plenty of time to get caught up on housework and odd jobs around the house.

Hi Judi. You haven't just stopped taking them, have you? (Cold turkey). I have been on them for 13 years and have been withdrawing from them for the last year-and-three-months. It's been a long, steady process but I learned the hard way that they ARE addictive. I wish you well in this and if you need any more info on my experiences with it then please don't hesitate to ask.Lightbulb moment: -£9,954.31 Current Debt: £0

Morning :hello:
The chickens aren't happy with me, they're on medicated food for a week and aren't allowed anything else. They gathered by the gate at teatime for their corn and starting squawking when no-one appeared with their treat. One escaped and stood staring into the kitchen. I brought her in to clip her wing, she started pecking the scissors as I tried to use them. They went to bed as usual last night, this morning every single one ignored me
I've washed the seed trays and pots, I'll fill them with compost today and plant some seeds. We've got some plastic shelving which lives in the shed, I bring it into the kitchen at this time of year. It fits perfectly in front of one side of the french doors and is the perfect place to start seeds off.Bulletproof0 -
Morning All,
My Nana had dementia, so did her daughter. Horrid illness.:(
Had another odd night. Fell asleep at 9.30, Woke at 11.30 then got up. I had a bowl of cornflakes, and was making Vegetable curry at midnight!:rotfl: Made a huge pot using some fresh veg from the fridge and some tins that had been hanging around for ages. Got tonight's dinner sorted and seven small portions to freeze:T
Put the towels onto wash at the same time, so only had to put them in the drier this morning. (I like my towels soft):rotfl:
Stripped the beds this morning, so WM is on. Bet it takes me all day to re-make them though, as I can only do a bit at a time. My cleaner , Helen usually does them for me, but she is having this week off.
I am also going to go through some paperwork today if I can, I feel a shredding day coming on.
Cold but sunny in Hastings today.:TI Believe in saving money!!!:T

Ive been cutting them down (taking one every second day, then taking one every 3rd day) for a while now with no ill effects. Its my inability to cope with stress i struggle with, that will be the true test as if i am to succeed.
I remember coming off anti d's 16 years ago when i had PND. I stopped taking them altogether and the side effects were horendous. I learned a lot from that mistake.:(
Thanks for your concern and offer of help. Its appreciated.:)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Good morning everyone
Sneaky post from work as there was no thread when I was on earlier ... and am too shy to start one and would make a mess of it anyway
Lots of snow coming down here and it's starting to stick. This cold is getting very tiresome, please bring on Spring soon.
5:2 diet starts today and I have ordered Michael Mosley's book from Amazon. I have a couple of very low calorie snacks with me but am going to try and do the full fast if I can. I think my desperation friend in this diet is going to be Baxter's Country Garden soup which only has 28 calories per 100g. I could even eat a whole tin if I wanted for less than 112 calories!
Better get back to work so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

I agree about dementia, it's a very cruel illness. My mum had dementia, and it was heartbreaking to watch.
The worst thing was when my dad went into hospital for the last time. My mum was in respite care, and we took her to see my dad. He was thrilled to see her, so it was worth taking her, but she didn't seem to recognise him. When we left, it was as if it was the first time she'd met him, saying that 'he seemed like a nice man'. One thing I was grateful for was that when my dad died, she didn't have to mourn him as she just didn't remember. She went through a stage of thinking I was her sister, and then she just knew I was someone special in her life. She never forgot me, even right at the end, so that was some consolation.
Anyway, enough of that.
We've dropped off DH's car for its service, now I'll be ironing and eBaying.
