Learning to drive abroad
Sorry for the complicated post.
I want to learn to drive this year.
However almost all my holiday is used up going to South America (a slightly longer time there saved a lot on airfares).
I thought that I could learn to drive there a bit and finish here.
Any advice concerns?

You might not be able to learn to drive abroad unless you have a valid visa etc... And may have to retake test to drive in uk or be able to drive for a limited time in the uk!
I passed by test in Cyprus, my driving instructor didn't speak English well, but I had a working visa was before they were in the EU!
Most driving instructors will do lessons before and after work and weekends! I used to use driving lessons once a week to get to work....0 -
Depends how quickly you learn and pickup bad habits.
Would be a bit of a failure pulling out of the test centre on the wrong side of the road. Winding the windows down to change gear.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I used to have my driving lesson at 8am. Id then start work at 10am.
I agree with lynda. Passing your test abroad may incur the additional cost of having to resit in the UK to ensure a valid license.0 -
OP, i take it you want to learn abroad and then take your test when you return. I would say its a no no, you should learn here in the UK so you are ready to take the UK test. As already mentioned its all too easy to end up on the wrong side of the road if you get familiar withdriving on the right and theres the added confusion of learning in a left hooker and returning home to right hand drive cars.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

I used to book my driving lessons for 1 hour before work and use them to drive to work! Or the other way around. That way I saved on bus fare too!
If I were you I wouldn't bother with driving lessons in South America as their roads are so different to ours it would be confusing for a learner.Hi.
