Giffgaff?

I have a pay-as-you-go Orange phone. My money doesn't seem to go very far. My husband's 3G is worse. Then a relative told me about some company called Giffgaff which gave him a good deal.

I never heard of this company before. I've been with Orange for years. I am very reluctant to enter a contract because last time I did (with 3G) I got seriously scalped (seriously scalped).

Anyone here knows about Giffgaff? Has it worked for you? Does it offer a decent coverage? I'm in the Northwest. Any input greatly appreciated.:D

GiffGaff is PAYG, so no contract involved.

    https://www.giffgaff.com

Also consider Ovivo, another PAYG provider that actually offers minutes, texts and data for free.

What is your usage? How much do you top up now?

If it's quite low usage then consider ovivo.

If you need more than 150 mins/150 texts/400mb then giff gaff can do good deals from £10pm top ups. But there is better stuff out there. Giff gaff is pay as you go as well.

But you need to unlock your phone first if you want to move network. Did you buy the phone from orange on payg? or did you buy it unlocked from a third party?
  • Hi, I have used Giff Gaff. They are pretty good. They use the o2 network so the coverage is generally good. I'm in Cheshire so should be similar for you. Very rural areas tended to be poor though. Lots of good pricing options and free giff gaff to giff gaff if you top-up every three months. Not sure about smartphones on there though, I didn't have one. The only reason I changed was to go for a cheap smartphone contract. I had no complaints.

This doesn't make any difference, but if you don't need mobile data, better options are available than giffgaff, e.g. Ovivo mentioned above.

Continuous technical failures, lack of detailed billing - you never know what you paid for.

I bought my Orange phone from a third party. I don't know if it is unlocked! I don't do 150 min and the rest but I text (not talk, just text) my hubby who is working abroad and that alone eats up my Orange top up.

That is completely opposite to me and my families experience and we've been with GG pushing 2 yrs.

All networks suffer issues - there's pages of topics about them!
