debtfree4-09, I'm not sure why you're advising someone who's managed to pay off £48k in less than 18 months about remortgages, in your very first post, but I think tolip is doing just great the way he is. Maybe you could start your own thread about your own money woes?

I didn't haven't a clue what the point of debtfree4-09 post was for either  - I think maybe tolip could give them a few pointers!!!!!!
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:

    Hello Everyone

I know its been a very long time since we posted, but we kept at it over the past few years and I can report as of 14 Jan 2010, we are debt free !!!!

We have cancelled ALL our credit cards, except one, but have reduced the limit to $2000. We also closed all bank accounts except for our main account, we had accounts everywhere at one time !

Its been hard work, and moving abroad to work really helped, but that also has its drawbacks, being away from family.

Thank you to all for posting and words of encouragement, whilst we may not have posted in recent times you have been in our thoughts.

    Kind Regards

    Tolip

Thank you very much for the kind comments.

You are more than welcome to take my place on tomorrow mornings flight ! Its to Beijing, and Shanghai the following night !!

Learning to become a pilot is easy, its paying for the training is the hard part, currently you could expect to pay around 80k STG to obtain a Professional Pilots Licence, and then its the old problem, not enough experience to gain employment as a newly qualified pilot !

Serious though, we appreciate your comments.

If I can offer anyone advice it would be to use the snowball system, that way you can see your progress.

I slipped up in my last post using the $ symbol !!! We now live in Hong Kong.

    Thanks everyone

I have just read this thread from start to finish. Three posts in, when I realised it was from 2007, I started to get excited as I wondered if the upshot would be that you were posting now, three years later to say you had cleared your debts.

What an amazing thread, what an inspiring story. I'm astounded.

Congratulations to you and your family. You must feel amazing (and loaded:)). Thank you for sharing this, for giving hope to all of us just starting out.

Just sat and read this entire thread. Was so pleased to see that last positive post from you declaring you're debt free. Wanted to say congratulations it's a brilliant achievement.

I look forward to the day when I can do that. *Goes off to investigate snowball system*

Glad to hear you're now debt free Tolip.
I have followed your thread since your original post and have wondered how you were getting on in the gaps between your posts.

Are you planning to return to live in the UK now?
