Hi all,
I am posting on the thread as I couldn't work out how to start a new one, anyway I wonder if anyone could advise.....
I took an Egg credit card in November 2001 which I cleared a few years ago. I couldn't remember if I'd taken PPI or not so I called them up last year and was told 'I hadn't taken PPI'
I decided to try again this year in writing and have received a letter say 'that I chosen to take PPI when I applied online'
I am not sure what to do next - Should I request DSIR?
Any advise would be much appreciated, I am at my wits end with this company!:mad:0 -
I came across this forum trying to find the phone number for the company as there is not one on their letters! I can't believe how many people are having the same issues as me! Ive been trying to get my cheque since June! All the trouble started with them not accepting documents to have my name changed, it took so long that i have now moved house this was in the middle of August. So now im still waiting for my cheque as ive had a new load of hassle getting my address changed, I received my original documents for address change on 28th September lets hope the cheque comes soon but i very much doubt it!0

After hunting for ages for a phone number,at last found one here. Thankyou. I do have to say that my dealings with Canada Square so far have been quick and efficient. Just have one last form (that i forgot to put in with my documents) to send in,and my cheque should be sent. The lady on the phone was really helpful, and i didnt have to wait in a queue for 10 mins. Will update once the cheque has arrived. Fingers crossed peeps!:T0

Found the phone number here as there is none on their letters (so why tell us their opening hours?), gave them a call as I'm pretty hacked off about them to say the least! I had two accounts with them, which both sold me PPI a few years ago, as these accounts are paid in full and almost forgotten about I was pleased to learn I have money owing from them both. Had letters asking for certain documents of which I sent off, to verify my change of name and address. A week later one account sent me a letter back stating my marriage certificate was not correctly certified, so sent off my original marriage certificate via registered post costing me over £6.00 to receive yet another letter from my other account, stating that my change of name and address details were not verified and also my letter of Authority was not sent from the address they hold for me!!! The name and address they hold for me is correct as they send all my letters here!! Phoned them spoke to some jumped up guy who advised me that the department that is dealing with both of my accounts don't have a telephone number and that I would have to write, I explained this is all taking so much time, he then went on to say what I needed to send, a bank statement directly from the bank certified, my marriage certificate again certified and a utility bill again from the utility company certified!!!!! WHY. I have had other PPI claims paid with no trouble what so ever, this is my money and I want it back why are they stalling with excuse after excuse? This company NEEDS to be looked into by WATCHDOG or the lovely Martin Lewes himself....mmmm feel another phone call coming on. Read lots of other reviews on this company and it seems I'm NOT on my own. PLEASE SOMEBODY SORT THEM OUT!:mad::mad::mad:0

Hi - a question to any people who have had successful Egg loan claims. Were you loans around 2001 / 2002 / 2004? I've three loans but cannot remember exactly how the original loans/PPI was sold - pre-ticked on the site? or other? Any help greatly appreciated.0

Over previous months I have provided Canada Square Operations with the certified evidence they requested to settle a refund of PPI including - marriage certificate, driving licence, passport. My Passport copy was verified by my bank and on another occasion - by our regional Justice of the Peace , yet still they write back 'we are unable to accept the documents'. This appears to be stalling tactics and in my last letter I asked that they provided a telephone number so we could discuss the matter to sort out. The latest letter response from Laura Ball of Canada Relations Department - dated 16th January 2014 - (received by me on the 22nd January 2014) mentioned they do not have a telephone contact number and provided an email as crt.pleaseassist@citi.com ?
Extremely frustrated - Where to go from here without incurring further inconvenience and expense of a Lawyer to retrieve my settlement?0 -
Similar experiences here too, on their delaying tactics. Unbelievable how long they are prepared to hold onto OUR money.....
Definitely worth the call to see what the progress of any claim is.
My letter of an upheld claim was sent on the 20th Jan 2014, and received on Jan 23rd.
Sent back agreement to the offer of settlement the same day.
At the latest would have been received by January 28th, maybe 29th being generous.
It then takes 4 working days to "scan the approval letter onto the system" and send out an acknowledgement receipt on Feb 4th (received today the 7th Feb).
Cheque approved for issue on 6th of Feb following a phone call.
So now it will be received within 20 days, taking the process to 30 days, never mind the 4-5 days for a cheque to clear in the UK banking system.
Furious to say the least!!
Useless. They still have my bank details, they should BACS pay it by return of post! It is just 14 digits plus the amount to type in and ping its there.
An email to Ian Clark will be next.0 -
Hi,
I have the same issue as some of you on here, I changed my address and now live in Spain, so it's been an absolute nightmare. I have online banking and they've asked for a statement, so I went to my local office and got a statement and a letter from the bank manager in English with a stamp from the bank; they've replied saying it's not original (I think it's because it's printed on recycled paper they've come to that conclusion). All the other forms of ID they've requested don't exist here in Spain e.g council tax or I would have to spend money getting something translated and an apostille stamp which aren't cheap.
Anyway, I've tried the 0800 358 2101 but it doesn't seem to be working for me, does anyone have another number?
Good luck!

0800 358 2101 works. I've just spoken to them. Trying to attain where I was living when I had my egg load back in 2001-03. Have sent them proof of address and a cheque which they've since destroyed as they say it doesn't match their records! They won't tell me what is on my records, have been told on the phone today to write a letter to their Worthing PO BOX address with all my previous addresses since 2001 to find out just what info they have for me. The tel number works today though and there was only a short wait of less than 60 seconds before speaking to someone.0

Hi,
Thanks Spdaddy for confirming, it must be because I'm calling from Spain. Strange.
In summary, they deceptively took our money as quick as a flash, if only getting it back was as quick and easy :S
Thanks again
Mark0
