Got the brochure this morning. Checked online and found this thread. Spoke with Visa and they have cancelled our cards and issued new ones. Got in before they deducted anything thankfully.

first off please don't blame me personally I work for the call centre that deals with freetime and may I put a few of you right in your misconceptions.
what actually happens is that freetime is affiliated to spacebags you buy spacebage then 2 weeks later receive a customer service call asking you if you are happy with your purchase and if you would like to receive information on sister company products.
Now freetime is sent out and the letter states you have a 30 day free trial and if you cancel within 30 days NO money is due if not then the yearly membership is due, because freetime is a SPANISH COMPANY it is not covered under uk trading laws therefore can be passed card details and legally take money from the customers who haven't cancelled.
moral of the story always read your mail carefully even junk mail and follow the instructions and WE ALWAYS refund when requested and cancel the details, no I appreciate people can be upset but PLEASE PLEASE DONOT ABUSE THE PERSON ON THE PHONE THEY ARE THERE TO HELP YOU NOT TO BE ABUSED0 -

Simple matter to resolve - report it to your bank as an unauthorised transaction. The bank must then refund unless they can prove you authorised the transaction. Binning junk mail won't be seen as authorisation.
Don't bother contacting any company you've never had any dealings with who try to charge your card, even if your bank try to get you to, just insist your bank do their job. And hopefully merchants like this will get their card handling facilities withdrawn, or even fined.0 -

I have also worked for this company, Freetime as with all the other names it has been called over the years may be registered in Spain but it is all run from the UK,
Pressplay Call Centre Ltd,
Benning Court,
Pottington Business Park,
Barnstaple, Devon,
EX31 1QN. The directors are British, Phillip Mason and Joanne Moores were resident in Manchester but often visit the Barnstaple call centre.
The Spanish address given out to callers is just a mailing house used by several companies.0 -
I got a letter from this company this morning and i was fuming when i read they had my card details, i phoned them up and asked where they had got my details from as i had never even heard of them, he said he could not trace where from but would cancle my details, i asked what mail order i recently had and he couldnt say i then remembered my order of spacebags in july from yourspacebags and i said thats the only order i have had that was not from ebay he went quiet then said he was sorry and my details had been cancled and hung up, i decided to do a search and found this forum and found others have ordered spacebags too, to be on the safe side i rang my bank up and they have put a check on my account just to be safe because i noted the date on the letter was the 4/09/13 and it arrived today the 25th meaning my 30 day trial had started long before i got the letter.They are nasty scamming people and the spacebag company should be done for selling details on.I have reported to trading standards who thanked me for bringing it to their attention and are going to investigate them including their uk base.0

MIL has been caught out by these people bought the space bags and only realised about being stung for £99 when she checked back account - no brochure received - she does recollect a telephone call about being happy with bags but never said she was happy for details to be passed on. Complained to the bank and they refunded her the money as she stated she had not authorised this payment but then 7 days later bank sent letter stating they believed she had authorised the transaction and enclosing a letter that showed her card details but with some info missing ie her name card expiry date free time had sent to the bank - they will be collecting the money in a couple of days as they beleive that it isnt fraud.
So my MIL and FIL have apparently agreed to pay 99 for a brochure about timeshares when they are disabled and unable to go on holiday theyve never even had a passport
These people are complete rip off merchants and hope they get some cumupance soon0
