We moved house and had the post re-directed, some post came from the old house re-directed today, the Mr had a pack from some company called Free Time, it basically rambles on about how they have given him a free 30 day trial after he purchased something via mail order (which he has not done) it looks timesharesque it goes on to say further to the phone conversation they had with him to confirm after a month they will take £99 for membership .... no 2 things the mr hasn't ordered anything mail order and hes not spoken to anyone on the phone, the phone at the old house was disconnected 6 weeks or more ago, and this membership pack is only dated days ago it is in his name but the old address??
there is a number to ring to cancel it but he has checked and it is a premium rate number??
they are based in spain, have now website or email details on the brochure or letter, nothing but a marbella address and the premium number?
now were wondering if the content of the letter is in itself a con to get you to ring the number up to complain/cancel and then they get their monies worth trapping you on a premium phone line!
has anyone else seen or hear of them or come across this, the Mr is fuming and basically saying leave it as he hasn't ordered anything they cant have the details and would all be incorrect as we have moved etc
i'm thinking he might be right that its a phone trap?

Providing he has never given his credit card over the phone to someone who cold called, they cannot take any money from his account. Anything based in Spain is likley to be a fraud since consumer protection and your ability to enforce it against a Spanish company is almost nil. Just throw the lot in the bin.0

Unfortunately, throwing the away the brochure will not make this disappear. Contact your bank the moment you see the transaction on your statement.
I did the same thing a few months ago and the GBP99.99 has just appeared on my statement. I contacted my bank and got them to phone the company to cancel the 'alleged' membership and I've been assured that the money will be refunded within 7 to 10 days. If and when it arrives I'll update the forum. Just don't hold your breath!0 -
I too have inadvertently been the victim of this but all credit to my bank because they called me to tell me that their rules engine had picked it up before any damage was done. Card cancelled and balance intact. :j0

this has happened to me too!
did you get your money back?0 -
I'm a bit confused about these posts mentioning money.
How did this company get your bank details?
The original post back in 3/13 said they didn't order anything.0 -

i bought spacebags from originalspacebag.co.uk and they sold my information on to free time which then took the £99.99 out of my account!0 -

I'm still confused.
You bought spacebags from a company called originalspacebag.co.uk.
I'm OK so far.
Did you pay that company for the goods you ordered?
If so, that's the end of that transaction and I'm still OK so far.
What goods did Free Time charge you for?
Did you check a box anywhere at the time of your original order saying originalspacebags could pass your details on to other companies?
Did you check a box that said another company could send you goods?
Did you even get any goods for the £99.99 that Free Time took for your account? This is assuming that you paid originalspacebag.co.uk for your spacebags.
Are you saying that originalspacebags sold on your credit card/bank account details to a different company (Free Time)?
Is that even legal without giving OK?0 -
I also noticed £99.99 from my bank account missing and had no idea who they were until I looked online and seen they are supposed to be a holiday company..I don't even have a passport and don't travel because of bad epilepsy..then I seen that was something to do with space bags and then it clicked..I ordered these last month from the tv ad and all was fine..read that when you pay by debit card then the company gets your card number..I was straight onto the fraud at my bank and they said I will get my money by 6pm..I then have to sign a form they send through and they asked me if I was happy for the police to be informed..of course I was..I have been on the internet for 12 years and never open things I don't know and my bank has that secure thing where you have to put in a code to stop this sort of thing but of course this was done and it didn't ask for it..though I did think they weren't a bad company as I know people who have these space bags from the tv..0

I'm still confused!
What have you people received for £99.99 from Free Time?
I've Googled 'spacebags' and on www.yourspacebag.co.uk
(the home page) it has these 2 statements:
Please send me details of products and offers from SpaceBag
Please send me details of products and offers from third party organisations recommended by SpaceBag
If anyone used this particular company, did you all untick these boxes?
Only one poster (a7x4369) has actually mentioned the name of the company they ordered from.
On www.originalspacebag.co.uk it may say something similar further along the ordering process but I have no intention of going that far.
Have any of you spoken to the company you ordered the space bags from about this apparent selling-on of details - and automatic debit of £99.99 from your accounts?0 -

you dont get anything from free time!
i would never allow a company to pass ANY of my details let alone my bank details for them to take money from!
i had to trick spacebags into phoning me so i could ask why they had passed my details on! while talking to the lady that phoned me i said i was disgusted that your company passes on peoples bank details to which she replied we dont pass them on..we SELL them on!! so they are making profit by selling peoples details on!
free time...where to start...i have spoken to them 6 times now..each time being told they have canceled my 'membership' and my refund will be in my account within 7-10 working days!
you dont get anything in return for the £99.99 some people say they received a brochure before hand from free time..i didnt get anything just the £99.99 taken from my account!0
