Hi all
Here I am - even later than usual, been running around (figuratively speaking of course) clearing up after [STRIKE]Leaky[/STRIKE] Mary.:D Thankfully she's gone for a post-prandial kip in her bed for now.:o
The dog-sitting franchisee is kindly going to have her over the weekend, a) to give me a break as she's very aware that Mary is a lot of work and b) because we're attending the opera on Saturday, and Mary can't be left for that length of time.:o
I've found out the new franchisee for this area is to be the owner of one of the dogs who has stayed with me in the past. I hope he wants to keep me on as a host.:o It'll be very scary for me dealing with a bloke, but hopefully the fact that I know his dog will help.:o
Hilstep (((HUGS))) my friend; life is not being at all kind to you & yours, is it?
Pen-Pin stay-well vibes for you, and GWS wishes for DD. If you've a minute, could you let me have some details of the American wrist splints, please? The ones I have are standard NHS issue; velcro fastenings which catch on woolen cardies and shawls, and have a nasty uncomfortable bit across my hands above the thumbs, which means it's impossible to wash my hands properly without taking the splints off; and they're going to be unbearable if/when we get any warm weather. I was thinking about getting some of the bracers they use for historical re-enactments, to use for going out, as these NHS jobbies are plug-ugly, too. As I mentioned, we're attending the opera on Saturday, and I refuse to wear these horrible things to such an event. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hi Again Guys!
DD last sick about 3 hours ago, so hopefully settling down now. Her interview has been rescheduled for next week, so thats good news too:T
We had the chicken stir-fry for lunch and I costed it to about 40p a portion and was very filling and tasty. I'm still not certain whats for dinner, but maybe just a baked spud and easy filling. My tummy is churning a little, but not thinking about it and hope it will go away:rotfl:
OH has run some errands and out ATM sending off the parcels/letters, drawing our grocery/petrol budget for the next 4 weeks *gulp*, collecting blood test form and prescriptions, collecting a few massive bags of bark chips to finish the back garden and paying some cash into our ISA to get the full interest on it.
I had an email to say our G&E bill was overdue??? So paid the £149.50 that was supposedly owing, but will get OH to get latest meter readings as it seems to be this much each month atm?
With regards to the grocery money, OH said we had loads of food in the outside freezer. He has taken a picture and there does seem loads. He managed to buy 5kg of chicken breasts 2 weeks ago reduced to £7, so he bagged and froze them, organic milk for 11p a litre, so froze 12 of them, butter at 50p and froze 5 of them. Hes also managed to get a lot of reduced stuff from M&S. Need a full inventory really, so we can meal plan spending as little as possible. Will also get my PA to bake us some more cakes/biscuits/scones to use up some of the flour etc we have in.
OH has recently done his First Aid course and Fire Marshall course and is going on a level 2 TA course for 10 weeks. He would also like to do his level 3 BSL, but it will cost £1400, but then he can demand £75ph+ through the courts, police and other government agencies to interpret for non-hearing folk. Its something we need to seriously think about and we can pay over a 10 month period interest free and have no other debt currently.
Anyway, I am rambling, so apologise.

PP I'm vet jealous of your hubby, I've done a lot of work teaching deaf and hearing impaired students but never had the time or funds to do my official BSL , I would definitely go for it. They are very sought after skills in lots of places, particularly schools and colleges. I could never find enough signers for my students.
I'm currently in the emergency centre with my ds as he has been sent home from college with his ear. I'm guessing its perforated again but what do I know, I'm just his mum;)
Just waiting to be seenu suspect we may be a whileStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Hi all
Hope your day is going well. I have recently heard that some people make their sandwiches at the beginning of the week and freeze them, taking out one sandwich for their lunch every day. Sounds like a super idea - but does it actually work?? Does the margarine and cooked meat/tuna & mayo/ whatever other filling freeze (and defrost) well
Thank you in advance for any replies.Lightbulb moment: -£9,954.31 Current Debt: £0

Afternoon all
Hubby doesn't mind the late shift during the summer as he can spend time in the garden before he goes to work. It messes up both our body clocks as I have to collect him at the time I would like to be going to bed.
It's been manic busy at work today, there has been at least 5 people queuing in my room all day & I now have a thumping headache, lets hope it's quieter tomorrow.
Have a good evening everybody.

I'd love to know how what started up as pie and chips for tea ended up as chicken, carrots and mash. Maybe the wind i encountered going down to the post office blew me off track somewhat.:o

MIL is being kept in for observation. OH was shocked when he realised how thin she was. He sees her every week and has been ordering a Tesco shop for her weekly, but we think she hasn't been eating it. He will have to organise some care for her when she is back home, just to make sure she eats.
DD is okay. Haemaglobin is 0.4 which is really low! The hospital has taken more, and if it is not up tomorrow they will give her a transfusion of three units.
Judi I was going to have HM quiche and new potatoes for dinner. Ended up eating both pieces and had spaghetti and meatballs from the freezer instead!
Save-a-holic You shouldn't freeze anything with mayo in it, it doesn't defrost properly. You can freeze plain cheese sandwiches or ham though.I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Here are 3 pics my OH has taken, so you can see what they're like and they are very supportive and don't look too bad either IMO:DTo repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it,requires brains!FEB GC/DIESEL £200/4 WEEKS0 -
