Halight,I took DGD for a little walk the other day ,some one has a bit of land next to a footpath across the road and they keep chickens but I noticed a couple of weeks ago that they've fenced off an area and they have a pig living there-I'm not sure what kind it is,was thinking it could be one of the pot bellied ones but its black and kind of medium sized.I don't think DGD believed me when I said 'look at the pig',she's not seen one before, and after all Peppa pig is pinkI feel sorry for it though as pigs are sociable animals and its in a pretty small pen.It 'talked ' to us but when we started walking off it began squealing like mad and I felt really mean.

Skinny pig,
The Skinny Pig is an almost hairless breed of Guinea pig. Skinny pigs typically have hair on their muzzles, feet, and legs, but are hairless over the remainder of their bodies. Some of them have a thin covering of fuzzy hair on their backs as well. A healthy Skinny has skin that is mostly smooth with some wrinkling around the legs and neck, the body is full with no appearance of spine or ribs. Skinnies can come in a variety of colours and patterns, such as Dutch, Tortoiseshell, Himalayan and many others. "Skinny" is not a synonym for all hairless guinea pigs, but refers to this specific breed.
The modern Skinny Pig breed originated with a cross between haired guinea pigs and a hairless lab strain. The hairless strain that it is most likely related to was a spontaneous genetic mutation that was first identified at Montreal's Institute Armand Frappier in 1978, in a colony of Hartley lab guinea pigs. In 1982 they were sent to Charles River Laboratories to be bred for laboratory use and are commonly used in dermatology studies today. They are an outbred strain that has an intact thymus[1] and normal immune system.

Hi Guys!
What a night!
DD 18 has been sick with some sort of bug from 1am and still being sick occasionally now. She has an interview this afternoon too, so she's worried they're not going to believe her, but I showed her an article written today about this bug going around and told her they will be fine and just reschedule. OH ended up sleeping on her floor as she wanted her daddy! How will she manage at Uni:eek::eek: I really hope we don't come down with it. I am in bed and have masks next to me just incase. My nurse told me to stay in bedroom and for DD to use anti-bac wherever she goes and clean the toilet, door knobs etc after use.
WM and DW both been emptied and more washing gone on. Everywhere clean and tidy. We had the walls cavity filled 2 weeks ago and the dust is still settling and its everywhere.
Think we're having leftover roast chicken from saturday with value stir fry frozen veggies with rice for lunch and maybe a jacket spud for dinner with a ready made frozen HM sausage casserole as OH is knackered!
Have sold 5 items and have freegled loads of books and few other bits. Trying to de-clutter as much as we can. Must also sort our accounts out ASAP, but just don't have much energy.
Have paid the CC, rent and council tax this morning. Moved some cash over to our holiday account too.
Have a good day.

Morning all!
Its still freezing col and windy, but at least no more snow.
Garage phoned today, will collect new car on Wednesday, its just taken me half an hour to edit the details on the insurance company's website to get the insurance certificate, think I will definitely be changing company in august as this one is a pain! So today will be emptying the car of detritus and giving it a bit of a clean, won't get carried away as they will valet it before they sell it anyways!
WM is on 2nd load, where does it all come from I wonder!
Hilly, you're not having an easy time, big hugs for you and yours.
Right , best get moving before my toes freeze, have a good day all!RIP Iain

Morning all.
No snow here, bright and light but absolutely freezing. The wind slices through you. Glad I don't have to go out today. The Rev has gone off to have the car serviced and to have lunch with a friend - which is why I am on the 'puter in the middle of the morning!
I made a lovely multi-seeded loaf on Saturday so I will be having some of that for lunch with an omelette and salad.
Hilstep: They say everything comes in threes but yours must come in fives and sixes. The only way is up now.
Love the idea of lambs in orange woolly jumpers. I used to knit woolly jumpers for ex-battery hens that were being re-homed as they usually had no feathers, poor loves. My neighbour used to re-home battery hens on her farm and I well remember the first one she had. It was featherless and when it arrived she put it on the lawn. The sun was shining and the little hen looked around in amazement, then she lay down and spread her wings out, closed her eyes and wriggled in ecstacy. I tell you - that hen was sunbathing.
It was heartbreaking, the state they were in when she got them. A couple of weeks of pampering and you wouldn't have recognised them.

Skinny pigs, i saw one at the pet shop when i went the other day. I took a picture of it to show 'Youngest'. Dunno if ive still got it but the poor mite was bald apart from hair on his nose and feet. Apparently you have to apply SPF on them in the summer and keep them indoors in the cool weather as having no hair they get cold easily. There was only one and i was tempted to 'save' him but at £120, plus having to buy a cage i thought i was letting sentiment get in the way of common sense. Plus ive got enough to look after with 'Youngest', 2 dogs and a part time man.
Mother in law looks lovely with a good clean up and a fresh coat of paint. She's back on her plot now with a pot of artificial flowers. Which reminds me, i ought to take a look at my daughters plot. I dont go very often as i get upset every time i go.
Spent the morning rearranging stuff downstairs. I'm annoyed, the house is beginning to resemble a garden shed again.
Hilstep, i dont know if you have snow where you are but whether you do or not. Be careful. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hilstep so sorry to hear what's been going on, sometimes it gets to the point when you wonder what else will be thrown at you.
No snow here at present be a biting easterly wind. I had to wrap up warm when I went out with the eBay parcels this morning.
I've done the bulk of my housework. I'm meeting a friend when she finishes work, so I'll have something for tea when I'm out. OH can have the remains of yesterdays quiche, so that's the catering sorted out.
This aternoon I'm going to have a browse on the internet, look at eBay and relax a bitEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Hi all,
Halight Thanks for your support.
OH has texted. MIL is in a private room and bored. Waiting for the doctor. DD is up the hospital this afternoon. DGD coming to me. Watching Superscrimpers challenge. Isn't Susan Forshaw the dinner lady who was with Jamie Oliver? Think she was.
Will be back later.:TI Believe in saving money!!!:T

hilstep what a horrible weekend. Please take care of yourself, the stress is no good for you. I'm glad the baby is ok though. That must have been a relief.
We had lovely baby news this morning, my brothers girlfriend had her 12 week scan so I am officially on my way to being a proper biologically auntie. I already have 3 nephews and 4 nieces but they are on my husbands side or from my step siblings. This one will be a bit special!
I've come home from work and have lots to do but I'm too cold so I probably won't bother. The snow has all gone now but it's still bitter. I don't like cold at all. I'd rather be too hot than too cold.
Chili chicken pasta tonight for dinner, it's been on my list for about a fortnight but it kept getting postponed. I might do pancakes for dessert. I have a real hankering.0
