my oh calls this shift the waiting shift..........hewaits about the house to go to work as he gets up at the same time regardless of shift times so by time he was due to go in at 2 he was shattered as half a day was over. well thtas what he did before christmas as he was made redundant christmas week:o
He's Right,
You can not do much on a morning as your "waiting" To go to work,
your spend your work day "Waiting" to go home as your worn out!, When you get home, All you wont to do is go to bed. And it starts all over again,
Has your OH found anything yet work wise ? i can not remeber if you have said so or not ?:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -

Iv Been thinking of posting somethingf about this post from the lets keep chickens thread, I have not posted on there myself but I do read it from time to time.
Thread here, https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4876
The post I find shocking is this one,I have a maisonette with a medium-sized balcony at the back of one of the two bedrooms, all fenced off and quite safe. Its the top floor and back against the opposite wall. As soon as I saw it I thought of what I can do to utilise it- right now, its merely the spot for pigeon poop. I'd really like to have chickens there.
It is quite a big space and has no drop, its a bit like a mini patio area.
I've never kept chickens but I've always wanted to. My mum has grown up with them and I haven't, and I'd love to share the opportunity with my son. It is just me and him in our maisonette, and I've kept pretty much every other animal. There is enough room for a comfortable coop and lots of space to run. I refuse to keep a dog as its quite different and does need a garden, but surely chickens are ok?
I can buy everything needed, but I'd just like to know if this is a wise venture? Would the pigeons hurt the chickens- could I simply put wire over the area? Where do I start? Its straight concrete but I could put down grass rolls? Any tips?
The space is just going to be left for the pigeons else and I can just see a nice coop there which would be lovely.:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
I've read a few pages of this thread and I have a few questions:
What flooring is best for them, if they have a coop like any on Amazon? Do I need to put grass rolls down? It's pure concrete at the moment.
What do they eat per week? Can you buy in bulk?
Would pigeons attack? Or is it best putting netting over area so there's no issues?
Are they quite easy to pick up?
What do you collect the eggs in? Basket?
Thanks

Morning all,
Had a real weekend of it.:(
Friday DD was going to the midwife then coming for dinner. She started bleeding, so they dropped dgd off and went up to the hospital. by 6.30 I was panicking. Anyway, turns out she had an ulcer inside which had burst and given her a water infection. Shes okay, so is baby thank goodness.:T
Then had a phone call from my Aunt, Daddy's brother haas died, tow weeks after his sister. Had to go and tell him. He was really upset and cuddling him was awful. He only weighs 4 stone 13lb now, I was frightened I'd break him.:o
Then MIL had a mini stroke Saturday, and at 7.30 this morning OH rang to say she had pushed her lifeline button and was being taken into hospital to monitor her BP!
How much more can happen?
Going to the Hospice today to get rid of bits and sending off Ebay parcels.
Must get dressed too!
HAve a good day all, (Hope I do)I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Re Shifts - I used to do all my housework and then wonder why I was on my last legs at 9 pm. We used to follow a 2 to 10 with a 7am to 2pm and that was an absolute killer. it was good for patient continuity but totally shattering for the midwife.
Good Morning x
I have had a mega stressful start to the day as my youngest DS (16) was smoking something he should not have in the night and totally stank the house out. I am furious for many reasons but mostly because it precipitated an asthma attack in his dad. I have had all the windows open for an hour to blow through but the smell is lingering. I so wish I was over this teenage phase - I have had enough with four kids:eek::eek::eek: I have given myself a mega pain in the head through shouting at him.
OS - well dogs going for a haircut. I know it is bad weather but Pops could easily pass for a sheep and Princess Molly wont go out in this weather - she is getting older now though and prefers the comfort of my bed.
We are gearing up for my Dad's op next Tuesday. He desperately needs his hip done so will be a blessing. He is very active still if slightly eccentric so he will be able to get out for a walk in the summer.

Morning all,
There is the odd flake of snow coming down, but it not laying, but its so very cold still, could not get warm in bed last night, took me a good hour to get off to sleep, I discovered this morning that OH had left the window wide open, which is right next to my side of the bed .
Got an appointment at 9.30, and then need to nip to the shop and post office, will take the dog out and then spend the rest of the day in the warm, I dont have the heating on during the day, but put the lounge fire on for a blast if i need it.
Washing and online shopping to do today. We rarely have a roast on a sunday now, I always used to do one, but dd is at work most weeks, and OH and I are always busy, so we have ours on a mon / tues, today will be 2 huge pork chops with roasties and veg.
Hilstep, hugs to you hun xx
Jools, how are you ?
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all, grey and snow covered ground here today. bitterly cold too.
We had to cancel the weekend in Cornwall with my son due to the road conditions. the people we had booked with were incredibly helpful about re-booking for another time. We managed to have a great weekend, although his support team and I are totally exhausted. we learnt some good lessons about how to manage our energy levels when there's only 3 of us 24/7. He coped really well with the change of plans and we had a low key time, just doing little local outings of his choosing.
I got about 2 hours sleep on Saturday night, due to sharing a room with son, so went to bed at 8 last night and slept 11 hours!!!
unless staff team need me at his today, I will go to gym and do some much needed house work here today. Have no vegetables in so must do a shop. There's meat in the freezer, but I love my vegetables, so must get them.
the floor sleeping didn't do my back and hip any favours either so I'm hoping that the stuff the physio taught me to do at the gym will sort htat out.
Watched the recorded Grand Prix when I got home yesterday and am really excited that the season has re-started. Never liked Vettel and yesterday comfirmed my suspicions about him.
Have a warm, safe day all, with as much pleasure as possible.'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.' T S Eliot0
