Tonight's tea was a Ploughman's - think eyes were bigger than our bellies though as we both left some but will eat it tomorrow for lunch. Not had one for ages and really enjoyed it.

Ald! for us this morning, the tills had been down and so there was a huge line of people waiting to pay. Spends came to £27.53 but then on a whim decided to go to Morri$ons and spent a huge (for us) £33.51. My only excuse is that they had updated the store and it was nicely set out with the dry ice and smoke where the fruit, veg and herbs etc were. If (when  ) I go again I shall have to walk around with a blind fold on :)

One of the Mr M's round our way has that, thankfully it's not the one closest to us and is actually a bit inconvenient to get to (as in you have to get a train there and the station I'd get on at is next door to the other Mr M so a bit pointless to bother really :rotfl:), as the couple of times I did go I got a bit overexcited and really wanted to buy all the exciting, unusual and exotic veg they had :D

No spends today, we're doing well this week, but need to after our terrible start to the month

I went swimming after work so my OH made chilli con carne, the first time I've had meat chilli for years as I haven't had it since starting to eat meat again after being veggie for 4 years. Actually really enjoyed it but I'll still be making veggie chilli as love that too :) really proud of him as he stretched 300g mince to four portions by bulking out with veg!

Spent £1 on milk today + spend by Mr F to be added to sig when he gives me the receipt.
I made a pie for dinner - no name - just one of my made up recipes.
Made enough shortcrust pastry for this pie plus some to go in freezer.
I simmered all the ingredients in a pan on the stove then turned into dish when cool and covered with pastry. I use Trex - makes fantastic pastry.
I used a pork steak - cut into bits - cooked the other evening plus a tin of value baked beans, an onion, two peppers - from a value bag - Mr T.
Plus some soft tomatoes, a large mushroom, 2 sticks of celery, 3 cloves of garlic - last I had, chilli flakes, garlic granules, rinsed out empty barbecue sauce bottle and a stock cube. Also added the gravy meat was cooked in plus some flour to thicken sauce + ground black pepper. Enough to serve 8 - we had 1/4 pie between the two of us - cost of pie - £1.82 Really filling and tasty.
So 1 pork steak made 8 portions - trouble is - lots to go in freezer!
Served pie with roasted cubes of sweet potato tossed in oil and mixed herbs plus roasted beetroot, roasted red onion and roasted peppers.

My first NSD yesterday, and first shop today, all whoopsies.
Have discovered an useful Coop halfway my commute (pass it while changing so it's easy to pop in). They seem to start pricing stuff down with at least 1 day use by date, pretty helpful mse wise:D

The £10.32 was spent on: smoked gammon joint, punnet strawberries, a pack of mixed veggies (carrot, peas, green beans, swede), purple broccoli, a packet gravad lax, 5 lemons, and a big trifle.

We had the gravad lax today, with toast, mixed veggies steamed and trifle as pud. Gammon is cooked and cooling down, glazed it with some marmelade, so we will have that tomorrow with broccoli, potatoes, left over trifle and strawberries. Remaining gammon will be used in a pie this weekend, and sandwiches for lunch.

Will need another sm shop this weekend though, but luckily as of next week, work will be less busy. Have been working extra hours/days last few weeks and really notice that I spent more on 'convenient stuff' because I have less time to get myself organised/meal plan etc.

This month should be better. Plus have time again to bake instead of buying biscuits! Will have a browse through the recipes to see if I can find something to use up the lemons....:rotfl:

Thanks, Mrs Cautious. Tomorrow night we are child free - un planned - and that usually means a meal out or certainly drinks out! Hmm, I see a hole being blown in the budget...
I can't believe I am thinking like that!

Thanks for the tips Mrs C, seems like the one that makes the biggest difference is finding good YS meat - might have to try mid-week shopping to see if I can get any!

A £1 spend on milk today as I didn't get enough at the weekend - boo.

Oh dear, I have lost the plot this month. I need to do a proper add up but I think I might be on about £40 til the 18th. I haven't been using my supermarket to plan my shops beforehand and I can really see the difference.
We have loads in stock, I will just have to run down the stores.
I agree about the new Morrison's layout. I love the fresh herbs and the exotic veg section. I need to get my herb bed sorted out...
