    I'm setting myself a budget of £203.50 please :)

That's based on my normal way of calculating - so 30 days for me, 4 Saturdays for feeding OH, and 4 weeks of providing milk and a couple of meals for DS.

However the month won't be quite like that, as OH and myself are taking my 3 GDs away for a Monday thru Friday self-catering break. So we'll need 4 breakfasts, lunches and evening meals for them as well as OH that I've not budgetted for. Hard to assess how much extra I should be allowing for that as I know OH will chip in - and almost certainly by more than what his share is.

But as I've had good underspends so far this year (£52.98 in January, £43.51 in Febraury and currently on £76.98 for March without much more to buy) I reckon I should be able to stay within my 'regular' budget and still have some pennies left for the food festival I'm planning to do an expensive stock-up at on 6th May :)

    Hi all,

may i join this challenge? Im moving out on the 2nd April and going to be doing my own shopping.

Im thinking £80 for 2 of us. just a guess but we are starting from scratch!
I think £80 for two of you - I take it that is adults - is rather low as you are starting from scratch. I have stocks in which is how I keep to a low budget mostly.

Thanks for starting the April Challenge

Our lovely new kitchen is finally finished, so back to eating normally (instead of take outs/at friends/out) - so I'd like to rejoin the challenge please with a budget of

£200 for the month - this will include a big chunk of lamb for Easter - we normally are non meat but have friends over which gives Mr Fluffpot a chance to cook something meaty!

    Good luck everyone
Any photos of your kitchen please - I get mine started next month.

Going for £25 a week for the next four weeks. I want to be well under as I save all the unused GC money - will spend it on my new kitchen.

£80 does seem very low for 2 for starters. It does all depend on what you're going to include I suppose. But don't be too disheartened if you go over. First month is always trial & error :rotfl:

Can I be put down for £100 for April please?

    Good luck everyone

Thanks to the organisers of the GC threads.
    NSD here.
Dinner tonight was chicken kiev with roast potatoes, roast parsnip, cabbage, leeks and onions.
Got the next 2 day's dinner bits out of the freezer. Enough potatoes and veggies to last so hopefully won't spend. Just thought - almost out of butter - what if I get the baking urge?

April GC starts tomorrow for us. Have updated sig to include 50% of last months AF order as I promised I would because this was nearly all dried goods which will last us months so I didn't include the whole spend in March.

I wish i had been clever enough to do that, as i got six boxes of cereal from AF last month and other bits, and i haven't even started on the cereal yet; then i might have come in under budget:rotfl:!

I agree with the others. £80 for a stock up month, as starting from scratch, sounds too little for 2 people. Even if all you buy is basic/value/smart price/the cheapest I think you are looking at not sticking to budget I'm sorry to say.

Have you budgeted as if that is all you have for groceries for 2?

I am going for £350 this month (from 1/4/13), as i have daughter's birthday on the 5th, of which a birthday cake has to come out of the budget. I have made them in the past but it costs nearly the same amount to make as to buy now; and i can't find suitable pyrex bowl reasonably enough priced, suitable to do a doll cake. However if i do, i might revert back to make it. Also, any little treats she might want on the day of her birthday - party tea or whatnot.

I realise my budget is meant to be coming down; but i have almost reached this this month without half term/Easter and a birthday thrown in. I am not going to include the pets in this budget now; but will still include toiletries and cleaning (may need a small Cloud 9 order for fab conditioner and WUL) and £12 for delivery saver for the month. I might be able to do a Sainsbury's shop with different email as at a new address since first time i ever used them, and pay by Nectar points. The cupboards are pretty stocked, have loads of cereal and pasta, but will need various other bits particularly fruit and veg.

Hopefully May will be better and i can reduce it more realistically, as still not quite into the swing of not buying things i don't need!!!

Can you please let me know what Cloud 9 is? It's been bugging me for ages, and Google search yields nothing! :D

Spend of £7 on turkey breasts in Co0p , and £5 on lunch in Mr S...getting close to the target!
