Got some mince from Ts a couple days ago £2.75 but opened it and it was really whiffy (still in date) and after reading the bits on here about it, I emailed Mr T's and they're sending me a £5 gift card :) I was annoyed at the time though as I'd chopped up onions garlic chilli and carrots and just chucked the mince in the pan before realising :( so everything was ruined! But never mind £2 up!

Also got two large pork leg joints on reduced yesterday for £1 each, ones going in the oven in a minute and the others in the freezer. Will be eating pork for a while!

    Will update sig now.

Will also have another spend later on - probably about £3. My sister has given me a couple of cinema tickets for the new pierce brosnan film :D so will be popping into B&M for some treats first.
    Rubbish at the grocery challenge!

    Hi again,

Back from the farm shop and I got:

    1 pack unsmoked back bacon
1 large pack of chicken breast (split into two for the freezer)
2 large pork chops (as already have 3 x DR ones in the freezer)
1 pack of 8 minty lamb chump chops
    1 pork pack consisting of:
9 cumberland sausages, 4 large spare rib chops and 2 pork hand joints.

Total spent was £35.93 although on checking my receipt they forgot to charge me for the bacon, so ir would have been £3 more.

Has anyone cooked pork hand joints before? There is a bone in the middle. Looks like lots of meat on them though.

This purchase was from 2nd purse so will pay back £5 each time I use something from this stock.

Dinner tonight is steak and chips with peas/salad. They are DR mini rump steaks, first time we have had steak from them (other than cubed casserole steak). Beef shin casserole WILL be tomorrow as I'm working.

    Have a good day everyone.

Thanks Meg - trying to do that with the freezer this month! I'm deffo getting better, but need more work. I hate the thought of running out of food and am a real food hoarder for 'just in case' :o Don't know what this just in case is as the shops are open all but about 2-3 days of the year. I think I'm preparing for nuclear war/natural disaster ;) My mum is the same and she puts it down to growing up poor.....

Need to get it into my head that there will be other deals the next week!

On the plus side, I've planned out some tasty meals for this month..... And I will work on using things up and only buying what we need.

Stocked up in Aldi on veggies, meat and tins we needed £50.95, and DH spent £3.50 in Lidl yesterday (on sweets/choc by the look of it).

Eldest son had a hospital apt today so we went in Starbucks for a drink and a treat as he was brave £9.70 for 3 drinks, a slice of cake and a cookie - wowzers! This is coming out of budget too.

Don't have much of the grocery budget left now until payday (23rd for me) however we 'should' only need bread, milk and maybe a little more meat and veggies next week.

Having a curry later with leftover chicken from Sunday, tomorrow will make a mammoth pan of Bolognese to portion up and freeze.

coxy - your macaroni cheese looks lovely, not had it since I was school a long time ago and it never appealed to me then but seeing your photo I think I will give it a go as it looks nothing like I remember it.

K9sandFelines - does soy bean paste smell a bit strong as I have some in a jar but not sure if its gone off or not as it has a strong/strange smell to it. It has been in the fridge for a while and has been opened.

    £2.49 spent this morning.

Hi, i'm not sure as it is one i haven't used yet. NickJW might know better .....

£1.25 on YS grapes today, there may be more later as have to nip back out and there may be more reductions in the C*-*p then!

*Edit* Fell foul to a chip naan tea. Had no energy to cook. So adding a £2.80 spend to today's total. Was meant to be for just DD; but it looked so nice and it was huge. Must get back on this SW wagon!

    Off to update sig.
