No photo tonight. We had HM wedges + pastie/sausage roll + stir fry cabbage + onions + garlic for dinner. Had a tiring day - new windows!
I am used to sea breezes living at the seaside but it was quite bracing when four windows were out at the same time. One was out at the back - one at the front and two side ones - nowhere to get out of the cold! The men are back for a second round tomorrow!
Feel for you love ,I have come down with yet another cold and even with heating oncannot get warm dont know what I would do if the windows were out.Slimming World at target0 -

The bowls are a very good size for £6.99 at Aldi - my one only had a couple of pink and blue ones.

Made cream of celery soup which we had for lunch with some crispy pancetta sprinkled on top. It was nice and considering its not one of my favourite soups I enjoyed it. DH ate two lots of it so he obviously enjoyed it. Also made bread today but something went wrong, it tastes good but not very aesthetically pleasing. (if that's the right word) lol
For tonight's tea we had my version of chicken chow mein. It was really nice much better than from local take away. The chicken breasts were huge so kept one back and will use this tomorrow in someway for lunch. Hopefully tomorrow we are out for a meal, we plan to go to the local Indian where its a all you can eat buffet.

Is this spicy or bland?
Saturday - Five spice chicken with garlic ginger, spring onions, soy beans, carrots served with rice
Do you have any recipes for these Nick, or a link you can point me in the direction of please? They both sound great.
Enjoy your Cajun chicken. I had that yesterday, as my Dad took me out, it was fab![/QUOTE]
Hi K9sandFelines
I can't take credit for either of the recipes myself I'm afraid. I had a packet of soy bean paste bought on a whim in Chinatown a while back because 'it was a good deal at only a £1' (how many times have I done that!). Didn't know what to do with it until I found this blog and it's delicious: http://www.noobcook.com/taucheo-chicken/. It can be spicy, but depends on how much chilli you use. I just used half a large red chilli, instead of 3 small chillis in the recipe and it was just the right heat. I also just finely diced the garlic and chilli instead of making a paste and threw a handful of frozen soy beans in at the 'paste' stage.
As for the five spice chicken - it's a Ching He Huang recipe - I add a handful soy beans at the frying chicken stage, because I'm trying to up the intake. Another favourite of mine at the moment. http://www.lifestylefood.com.au/recipes/3726/five-spiced-chicken-stirfry
Luckily I always have most Chinese and Indian spices/pastes/sauces in stock (though I'm trying to whittle them down a bit), so I tend to have a lot of these kinds of food. A bonus is that they are pretty easy and you can adapt the veg with what you've got (I use normal mushrooms instead of shitake and savoy cabbage instead of pak choi sometimes).

No response from Sainsburys - pretty disappointed, because I had a similar issue with Tesco a few years ago (noodles were off), and they gave me a £10 voucher as compensation.Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

Evening all,
£6 today on dd snack money for school, decided to take it from this budget as it is food I suppose. Have updated sig.
Not feeling great today & nearly succumbed to a takeaway!!
But I had bean sprouts in the fridge that needed using, so added some fresh egg noodles, pork from yesterday's roast & an ancient stir fry shot I had lurking in the cupboard. Ended up being really nice & managed to hide a portion for lunch tomorrow before dd demolished the rest of it
Hoping for no more spends this week.

I love Chinese food too. Will definitely try these. Thanks so much and hope Sains get back to you. Not very good customer service is it? There's a few people from this thread work for them, so maybe they could shed some light on normal procedure ...which you would think would be to take your word for it; as you would an online delivery (was it online??), they would just refund your money over the phone without wanting the product back.
