NickJW - have phoned shop before now to complain that something is off but said that no way could I come back that day and they made a note of it in a diary and said when next in the store to go to CS and they would give me a refund which they did in due course. This has been the case in A$da and Te$co so would think your store would be similar. Hope so anyway. Keep us informed on what they say.

  • Evening all,

    It's been a spend free wkend here :j :T

Dinner was pork shoulder (amazing taste) broccoli, cauli, carrots, swede, stuffing, roasties & yorkshires.
Really enjoyed it apart from the cauli, was vile!!! not sure if it was off or not, looked fine when I prepped the veg but it went straight in the bin along with the rest in the fridge (just in case).

Loads of pork left so a few meals will be based around that this week.

Have meal planned & have plenty in so hopefully no shopping until Friday.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend.

  • Thank you NickJW I thought t must be something like that!
And with reference to returning your item, I think it is insult added to injury if you have to return to the store with a yucky item - have only complained by email for delivered orders but got a refund. I would stick to your guns and if they don't refund straight away let them know how incredibly inconvenient it is not only have you got no dinner but you're expected to drive back to the shop!

Please put me for £120 again this month.

Failed last month, going over by around £20 in the end.

Spent £11.01 so far in the past 7 days, so a decent start.

NSD here as I have been busy tackling my veg mountain:)
Have made curried parsnip, broccoli and cheddar, carrot and coriander and French onion soup which are in portions in the freezer for lunches. Par boiled what was left and tossed them in honey, oil and mixed herbs and froze them in portions ready to roast.

Roast chicken for tea so I have picked enough meat off what was left and froze it for pie making later in the week. Have made chicken and veg soup with all the left overs and added it to my soup collection in the freezer:).

Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

Hi everyone, hope you have all had a good weekend. Have managed a NSD today :j:j Have decided to try to split my grocery budget into a weekly amount to see if I can keep within budget this month. I have only spent £30.60 of a £150 budget in the first week so am within budget so far. I have quite a lot of food in so should not need anything till later in the week. Fingers crossed I can do better this month.

    Good luck everyone

Thanks all. The turkey is binned now (didn't want the foxes roaming around), but I'm boycotting Sainsburys until I receive a response...

    Onto spends to add:

    £18.62 in Mr S
    42p in Mr S
    £2.30 in Mr S

    = £21.34 in total.

    Dinners I've had this week:

Monday - Horseradish BBQ chicken (Bleurgh!)
Tuesday - Sea Bass with broccoli and new potatoes with an anchovy sauce (Housemate cooked)
Wednesday - Chicken with rosemary and anchovy tomato sauce with mash (Housemate cooked)
Thursday - Taucheo chicken with soy bean paste, mushrooms, soy beans, spring onions, ginger and garlic served with rice (have about 2 meals left to have with this paste)
Friday - Chicken Biryani and coriander.
Saturday - Five spice chicken with garlic, ginger, spring onions, soy beans, carrots served with rice
Sunday - Pasta Puttanesca with spring onions (to use leftover anchovies/spring onions up)

Lunches have always been either sandwiches or leftovers from previous meals.

I cooked more last week, so cook less this week. Having an easy meal of cajun chicken with roasted tomatoes and onions w/couscous this evening I think (housemate is cooking, and hasn't decided just yet).

Hope everyone has a good day! :)

hi I am roasting the turkey crown I got for Easter and didnt use today, I am unsure wether to cut some off and make a casserole and roast the rest . I think i will see how big it is when out of the wrapping.

I have found out about a local veg box scheme that is $4.50 so think I will give that a whirl as it sounds quite promising

    have a great day tess

Thursday - Taucheo chicken with soy bean paste, mushrooms, soy beans, spring onions, ginger and garlic served with rice (have about 2 meals left to have with this paste)

    Is this spicy or bland?

Saturday - Five spice chicken with garlic ginger, spring onions, soy beans, carrots served with rice [/QUOTE]

Do you have any recipes for these Nick, or a link you can point me in the direction of please? They both sound great.

Enjoy your Cajun chicken. I had that yesterday, as my Dad took me out, it was fab!
