Been to Morri$ons this morning and spent £12.59 on fruit & veg. Brought bananas, oranges, tomatoes, pears, mushrooms and a paper.
Last nights tea went down well and as well as the fish & salad we had a few fries. Tomorrow we are having by request sausage & mash as 2 grandchildren here and its one of their favourites - mind you they are very good and will eat most things.

Fabulous looking meal. may I say 10/10 for presentation. I think it makes such a difference if food is arranged nicely.

Reporting my spends from yesterday and today from Aldee and sains. I haven't used aldee for a few weeks as had been seduced by vouchers from tesc0 and sains and it really hit home how much more I got for my money and that the vouchers from elsewhere were not worth it:(

My total stands at £380 so still have a few pound for some milk and ham to take away with us next Saturday on our hols as I am happy as long as I under £400. The total spent also includes lots of goodies for our hols and my wine rack is chooca:)

DH needs to lose some weight and has decided to do a ridiculous diet starting Monday for a week any only eat chicken, broccoli, brown rice and fruit! He might lose some weight but it will all be back on by the time we come back off hols:mad: at least I have only had to get a bag of rice as I have fresh and frozen broccoli and frozen chicken already in.

Hi everyone. Just done our weekly shop which should really have been a small top up but ended up a bit more than that. Went to Aldi and got 4 lots of carrots, parsnips, onions and leeks and two lots of broccoli before the super6 change. Tomorrow will be soup making day and the rest will be chopped up and frozen. Also got some split tin loaves for the freezer from Morrisons as they are on offer at 65p and they make lovely sandwiches and toast. Last stop was £stretcher for kitchen roll (2 packs of 4 for £1.79). Total spend was £34.67 so no too bad but will really need to be careful now.

    PP xx

Great veg shop andd well done with the soup making.

I just have a question regarding kitchen rolls. As a just after the war baby (born the week it ended) raised with rationing and very much OS, I have never used them, cleaning cloths were the thing then, and nowadays the micro fibre ones are fantastic, 4 for1.00. and I cut these in half, just put them in the wash so always have a fresh one Sorry rambled a bit but why would paper ones be better?

Sooo just cycled to the local supermarket and back. Managed to only get two items which were not on the shopping list (cat treats and some crisps), which is amazing for me as usually I'm all over the place lol.

Shopping was £31.30 adding to it my awful takeaway and extras yesterday £23.44.

Running total - £116.84/£300 so we have £183.16 left.

I am hoping that we can get our "food" budget down to £200 this month and that means we can add the dog food budget into the £300 and work on reducing from there.

On another point, I bought all the ingredients to make my own yogurt today, its currently in the yogurt maker I found, fingers crossed it works!!!

Hi Meg. I use the paper for draining excess fat off things sausages and bacon and to cover things in the microwave. I agree with you washable and reusable are much better for cleaning:)

I know this is addressed to pinkypig but I totally agree with you re kitchen roll, had never used it in my life until I moved in with OH (I'm only 24 so it isn't necessarily a generation thing!) and he is addicted to the stuff and uses reams of it every time he cleans. I moan about buying it but he does all of the cleaning except the kitchen (my domain) so I figure he gets to pick which products he wants to buy. Sadly he isn't OS in this respect at all and loves nothing more than an under-sink cupboard crammed with a multitude of different bottles! Annoying but better than having to clean it myself :rotfl:

No spends today. Made hummus, pittas, couscous and spicy roasted veg for dinner.

    Spend of £6.24 today.
Want to pop into Al.. tomorrow - may get one of the pink mixing bowls.
For dinner we had pizza with HM wedges and stir fry cabbage/onions and garlic. First time I have cooked cabbage this way - it was yummy.

Having a lovely time being spoilt rotten at my mums. Not sure we can make it til the 18th, will have to be super frugal.

Bluegreen is too modest to say so herself but her blog is great reading - if you google Chilli, Sage and Lemon blog you will find it. Great recipes.
