It is cold here and we had more snow last night, in fact it didn't stop snowing all day yesterday.
DH was going to build some new raised beds on the lawn, but he said expletive that today
halight you really need to get yourself to the doctor tomorrow, no ifs or butsor LW will have to come and sort you out.
I read about the extra deaths in the paper as well, what a disgrace that in the 21st century our elderly, disabled, sick and poor can't afford a basic need like heating, it makes me so angry that the fat cats rake it in while the poor are allowed to die
Leg of lamb for dinnerthat In bought in Asda for £6.80 and it will do a good three meals :T so lamb cobbler tomorrow and lamb curry on Tuesday. I think that I will get some money out of the saving account and buy another couple tomorrow and get some more beef and pork as well, it will pay better dividends than the bank is paying.
Right I had better get the lamb in the oven, because DH wants dinner early.

I had a lie in this morning I didn't get up till 9 :on very unlike me , still I've made up for it in terms of cleaning and washing
Sausage pasta for tea as I have run out of potatoes. , I quite fancy it too
Keep warm everyone xx0 -
Morning all,
Halight, i agree with the others, no one should have to cope with that amount of pain. It doesnt seem right to me either. Please go back to your GP, get a second opinion if you have to but please go back.
Fresh flurries of snow overnight. It seems to melt a little then we have another downfall which freezes over. Gritters have been out but we have no plans to go out.
Three of my items listed on Ebay have sold. Well technically 2 of them havent finished auction yet. I forgot, i listed the one item on the Saturday, the other two the Sunday. Both have got bids on more than i expected so i'm pleased about that.
Facebook, woke up with two additional friends this morning. One is the brother of my husbands best friend. I havent seen him for years and my how he has changed! The other was my sons ex. I do hope i dont become some sort of pawn in between them but at least i will get to see more pictures of my Grandson. My sons girlfriend added me too yesterday. Looks like i had better stop lurking and actually add something occasionally. I stopped using Facebook as a social network about 3 years ago, using it just to keep track of my daughter in South Africa [STRIKE]and to play Mobwars[/STRIKE]
Not sure what i'm doing for our meal today. I went shopping yesterday and have a choice. I must admit, we are going off our traditional roasts, opting for something a little less formal.
A question for you. Do you all cook traditional roasts on a Sunday?

Just coming out of lurkdom to say a big YES - always have a roast on a Sunday. Today, it's roast loin of pork with all the trimmings. As it's quite a big joint, it will probably do 4 meals for 2 persons, so will freeze 3 portions. Sunday just isn't Sunday without The Archers, Desert Island Discs, Songs of Praise, Countryfile and THE ROAST!!!:j[DFW Nerd club #1142 Proud to be dealing with my debt:TDMP start date April 2012. We usually have our roasts on a Monday, but with working different days this week we're having it this evening.
It's one of my favourite meals. We always eat together anyway so it isn't any more or less social than any other day. I know some people only get to eat together once a week.0 -
Generally will have a roast on a Sunday BUT if we have had something on Saturday like say enchilladas we always make double to have on Sunday as well..... Otherwise we have a roast of some sort unless we're not hungry and will just have an afternoon tea thing....But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0

Hi Everyone!
Long time since I last posted on here and hope all is well with everyone. Although my health is still very poor and been in and out of hospital, but I'm still breathing:D Am on more new medication and have to have weekly infusions now which luckily are mainly done at home. I still have the nurses in daily, but also have a new PA helping a few hours a week to enable me to run a business from home and help with the stuff I can't physically do. She's also a very handy cook and baker;)
DD is now 18 (19 this year!) and has applied to 4 different Uni's and she has been offered 3 confirmed places already. It has already been confirmed by the college that she will be passing her Level 3 BTEC Extended National Diploma with distinctions, so she's worked very well and obviously we're very very proud of her. I'm going to miss her so very much when she goes away to Uni, but we want her to grow into the butterfly she's been working so hard for for many years. I know she's going to go places! We rarely see her now anyway as she's away most weekends with her friends and she also has a job that will be helping towards her Uni costs whilst studying for the next 4 years.
Work is going as well as can be expected but OH's has slowed a little, so we are doing more local advertising to bump that back up.
I still try to meal plan and have so much food in the freezer, that I'm going to try my best to get through the majority of that and use up what we have in. Any money saved from our grocery budget will be saved towards our holiday later this year. We usually have 1 take away a week which is either a shared Fish and chip dinner or a FR chicken kebab and chips shared with loads of salad.
We are gradually sorting through all our "stuff" to de-clutter that we don't need and am still trying to sell what I can on Ebay and freegle the rest.
This year in the garden we have potatoes, cabbages, cauliflower, parsnips, carrots, runner beans, onions, beetroot, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, apple tree, fig tree, pear tree and will be growing salad leaves.
I am still doing my book writing and currently looking for an illustrator, so if anyone knows of a good one, please PM me. OH is also writing, but his is a lot deeper than mine! I was thinking about doing a true life book about my childhood, but its just so depressing:(
2013 for us hasn't been great so far with 4 deaths already, but hoping that it will improve!
Hope you're all okay and have missed you all.
Today we have had:
B-Beans on toast
L-Soup with bread and butter
D-Lamb from freezer which was frozen with the gravy for OH & I, with carrots, cabbage, parsnips and mash. Yum!

Goldiegirl wrote: ».... Dinner today is slightly unusual for a Sunday. I'm doing Salmon quiche. In a couple of weeks we have some friends coming for lunch. She doesn't eat meat, but does eat fish, so I like to try and find something different each time she visits, otherwise I just serve up fish pie or grilled salmon. So I'm trying out the salmon quiche, if it doesn't work, it'll be back to the trusty old fish pie!....
Have you thought about trying kedgeree with he salmon, and using quails eggs to make it more special? I have a recipe somewhere, think it is a Nigella or maybe Waitrose...anyway its dead easy, onion, curry powder or spices, basmati rice, pre-poached flaked salmon, hard boiled eggs (halves if quail, quarters or sixths if hens). It looks really pretty and Spring-like servedin a big dish especially with finely chopped parsley sprinkled over it.
Not much going on in that famous Lancashire coastal resort - wind blowing, sun shining. About to go for a walk with a purpose - the pub, via the allotment and a shop to buy plain flour so DH can make gnocchi with some l/o mash for tea
