I'm not sure I ever got round to posting my new plan? I was originally going to quickly get my house finished after Christmas, sell, move to my hometown, find a new job whilst continuing to commute to my old job, secure new job and hand 2 month notice in, start new life
:D I was worried about buying a new place on a reduced income (as I was advised they'd go through the affordability checks so that was why I was "house led" in the big move). Well, I've come to realise that by the time this has all happened, possible house selling and buying delays, job search and interviews, it could be Christmas before I get a new job. And my absolute priority, above moving to my hometown and above paying my credit cards off is to leave the job! I can't stand any more of it, I really can't
So my new plan is to look for a new job in my current hometown (it's fine here, I was never running away from this town), get the house finished as and when, recover from the stress of working in a job that I hate, then begin the job / house search in my hometown. I've been looking for a couple of months nhs jobs but nothing appropriate has come up, it's either part time or a fixed 12 month contract but being on my own and about to take a big drop in income, I need the security and pay of a full time permanent job.
But that was the plan up until yesterday. Then I saw 2 jobs advertised (one in my hometown and one in the next town over) which look good, and I'd be capable of, so I have applied! Aargh! I'm not really ready, the timing isn't quite right, but I've reached "the oh f**k it stage" let's see what happens!!! :rotfl: My friend posted something to F@cebook yesterday, "when it feels scary to jump, that is exactly when you jump, otherwise you end up staying in the same place your whole life" so I'm blaming her!:D
I do feel like I'm forcing my hand a bit but if I get either of these jobs, I will have to get a shift on and get my house on the market while commuting for a while, which will be horrible I'm sure, but at least I'd be away from the job. I'm just hoping that things will fall into place but if I don't do anything, nothing will change and I'll still be bleating on here about my job at Christmas!
I currently have a lease car so that will have to go back and I'll need to buy a car. I have been saving a little each month in one of my 16 (:p) savings accounts and have £500 saved for this but if my car goes back before September I'll owe about £600 to get out of the lease, unless I can sell the lease on to a colleague. I'll probably have to borrow some money on the credit card for a semi decent car but I'm slightly less worried about my debts now than 2 years ago. I know that in time, they will get paid off and as long as I don't add to them frivolously, I can live with that. Obviously I want them gone though, but I want to leave my job more.
I am a bit worried about passing affordability checks for the mortgage once in a new job but I have about 40, maybe 45k of equity and I'd be ok with extending the term if I had to so I'm trying to worry less about that. Got to keep the faith that this will all work out.
So things are all a bit up in the air, it feels scary but I'm a bit excited too. In fact my usual doom and gloom Sunday hasn't been quite so bad today. It feels good to get this all out of my head, hopefully I'll sleep better tonight now:)

Welcome back Orange Ena!
i know what you mean about the mood shifting properties of January. Grim isn't it?Ah well onwards and upwards and it seems as if when you go quiet you come back fighting and with renewed energy
Wow, lot's of exciting new change. I'm glad you are applying for new jobs. You have done inspirationally well on the house doing-up but you are right prioritise new work. Are the 2 new jobs permanent contracts? Sometimes an external factor to force your hand can be a good thing. Eagerly awaiting your next move!
Have a good week

Great plan Ena!
Sometimes everything is "hard" whatever you do, or don't do. The main thing I think is that you have options, you might not love them all (stay in current job is technically one option-yuk) but you could move, stay, rent, buy, increase debt slightly, the world is your oyster!!!Jan 20 - NST challenge

Fingers firmly crossed. If it's meant to be then it will happen, and I really hope that you can get out of the job you hate...Not giving up

Thanks DIAHaha when I'm not posting I thinking.....or decluttering.......or doing a survey! No time to post too :rotfl:
Yes they are both permanent which is great. I couldn't do it any other way as I'm risk averse and if I went for a fixed term contract, I'd panic if I had nothing lined up. One of the jobs closed yesterday but not heard anything. Really hoping to at least get one interview for the experience. I've only had 2 proper jobs and I didn't have interviews for either of them so I'm lacking in experience. Although I'm holding on to the fact that when I did my Christmas temp supermarket job interview I got that!
Thanks for the good luckx

Thanks Gonna, that's a good point. I do have options and it's all my decision and I'm the only one it affects. As long as my cats are ok though:D Haha the world is my lobster :rotfl:
