    I love how sentimental you are :) You probably know but it wasn't until Victorian times that we started buying new cards every years, previously they were kept and brought out to display each year. Maybe we can resurrect that so we can keep all our old cards :)

    A nice idea re the food bank hamper. It's good to keep perspective and realise how lucky we are isn't it?

    Have a lovely week x

    Ah I love that. Those Victorians were very frugal / environmentally friendly :)

    I completely agree, I feel very lucky. And I'm lucky that I can pass some of that on in a very small way.

    Evening. I've been off today and I've pretty much had a sofa based day :rotfl: Only 2 more days to work then I'm off until the following Thursday, which has turned out to be a bit unfortunate. I'm now wishing this whole week away so that I can watch the final episode of The Missing :rotfl::D I'm gripped :p

    Monday 21st
    * £2.53 in T3sco
    * £12 for a boxset from Shp0ck, brand new and still wrapped. It's £25 on Amaz0n :T
    * Pinec0ne survey
    * 0nep0ll surveys
    * i-S@y survey

    Tuesday
    * £25 for fuel
    * £5.97 for a card, lunch and 4 bottles of vinegar
    * £3.60 for scanning and printing some photos in B00ts, to send to my friend for her birthday. I did call in Max Spielm@nn but it would have cost £17.91 for the same :eek:
    * PA survey
    * Youg0v survey
    * 2 Opini0n Outp0st surveys

    Today
    * NSD
    * 0nep0ll surveys and £40 cashout finally reached :j
    * Opini0n Outp0st surveys and £2.50 redeemed and transferred to my overpayments account
    * 2 PA surveys and £20.86 requested
    * Fixed my gas and electric for 12 months and although my DD will stay the same, I'll apparently save 12% and prevent any prices hikes. My old deal ran out in September as I didn't want to pay to leave when I move but they've assured me I won't have to

    I contacted the bathroom guy today to go ahead with some work. I was going to get a new toilet as I couldn't get rid of some limescale which sounds ridiculous now. I had half heartedly tried to clean it but it didn't work. Anyway, I googled solutions and it turns out that white vinegar is the answer. 4 bottles, 6 hours and a bit of a scrub later, it looks new! So now he just needs to sort the flooring, the bath panel, a new screen, touch up some silicon, change the taps and his bit is done. Then I need new vinyl, a blind and a repaint so I've also contacted the decorator to get a quote for that, as well as the hall, stairs and landing. Turns out sitting on the sofa can be quite productive :T

    I've reached a couple of exciting milestones this month. Firstly, my mortgage had gone under 60k but it's just tipped back over and will be over by about £40 on the 30th. I was going to make an OP this month but I decided to save the money so when my next payment goes out on the 1st, and then the interest goes back on, it won't go over 60k again (unless I borrow more when I move, which I don't intend to do :T). The other milestone is having more money than I owe! According to YNAB, all the money in my various accounts is higher than my debt :j:j:j It's only by £6 but still! Normally I get to payday and it's a minus figure so that has made me very happy. It's not payday until Friday and I'll only need milk tomorrow so I will still finish with a positive figure :T:beer:

  • Congratulations on your milestones. The mortgage under £60,000 is great.
    I buy 5 litres of white vinegar online and keep it under the sink. I use it in my loo, kettle, washing machine, final hair rinse. I love the stuff :)

    Enjoy your time off :)

    Thanks DIA, and thanks for the tip on using vinegar as a hair rinse. I had no idea it could be used for that so I'll try it this weeknd :)

    Well hello! It's paydayyyyyyyyy :T YNAB is all updated and now I have no money ;) It's all accounted for, squirrelled away and will be forgotten about if I feel the urge to spend it :D

    Thursday 24th November
    * £2.84 in T3sco
    * Youg0v survey
    * 0nep0ll surveys
    * 3 Opini0n Outp0st surveys and £2.50 redeemed and transferred to my overpayments account. £2.50 earned in one day! :j

    Today
    * £6.29 for lunch and weekend snacks
    * 0nep0ll surveys
    * i-S@y survey
    * 2 PA surveys
    * £1.84 sweep into my FD savings account
    * £40 professional fees that I don't have to pay this month transferred to my FD savings account. I pay these fees, like the council tax, over 10 months and as I did last year, I'm transferring what I would have paid to savings before it vanishes into thin air :) This adds up to £235 :T

    Seeing as it's Friday, I put a face pack on :D And I cut my toenails and painted them, as well as my fingernails. I can't wear nail polish for work so when I have a few days off I like to paint them. Just wish they weren't bitten down stubs :rotfl:

    I need to go shopping over the weekend but before I go, I'm going to make a list and check the prices on mysupermarket, and then call in H0me Barg@ins first to see what I can get cheaper. Definitely progress on the cooking and planning front. I bought a small gammon and cooked it Wednesday night for tea and had leftovers for lunch on Thursday and for last night and tonight's tea :j I'm clearing bits out of the freezer so I served the cold gammon tonight with 2 onion rings, a stuffing ball and 2 croquette potatoes :) Really getting inspired by the feed yourself for a £1 a day group. Everyone seems to be going mad for pizzas made from Greek yoghurt and self raising flour so while I'm not actually that keen on pizza (:eek:) I'm going to make a small one to try it.

    Wishing everyone a lovely weekend :)

    Evening :)

    Today
    * £10.50 for kitten food from the vet, they offered me a 20% discount by text
    * £23.74 in L1dl, got quite a few things, icluding an Aberdeen Angus steak as a payday treat
    * £42.52 in M0rrisons, including a £15 Christmas pressie, loo rolls, de-icer, 6 bottles of lactofree milk (£2 for 2 plus 200 more points which I had to ask customer service to add on, it's the 3rd time I've noticed the bonus points haven't been added on) a Christmas decoration and a few things I couldn't get in L1dl
    * PA survey
    * 40p sweep into my FD savings account
    * £1.78 sweep into my overpayments account

    I had an email from N0w TV offering a 3 month entertainment pass for £5 which is a huge bargain. I know I had a 6 month entertainment pass and only watched a couple of things but with it being Christmas and being off work a few days I might actually be able to watch things so I've gone for it. It's only £1.66 a month so no huge loss if I don't watch a damn thing on it :rotfl:

    I had a go at making the yoghurt pizza and it was absolutely delish. I think it's the nicest pizza I've ever had and considering I wasn't keen on pizza, I'm amazed. I'm not sure whether it's because it was genuinely tasty or the fact that I made it and it cost very little to make! :D:D And I think its healthy, but maybe I'm kidding myself with that one :p;) I only made a little one, with a shot glass of yoghurt and flour, a little tomato puree, a sprinkle of cheese and some pepperoni. I reckon it's probably cost about 70p to make, if that.

    :):)

  • I got an offer from Now TV for movies. I never have time to watch unless it's Christmas so we now have really cheap Christmas movies on tap until at least January...

    Yay to face pack Friday. :) Nice that you have a few days off and can kick back a little...
    I am on a super tight food budget this month so was trying to find the feed yourself for a £1 thread. Can you direct me?
    Enjoy your time off

    That's cool CCL, might as well take advantage of these good offers when you can use them :)

    DIA, it's a group on Fac3book actually, not on here, sorry. It's called Feed yourself for a £1 a day. X

    ****Breaking news.......I don't have the Sunday doom feeling cause I'm not at work tomorrow :T:j Bliss :D Argghh I can't wait to move and get a new job that I don't dread going to on a Sunday night :o I know the grass isn't always greener, and having a paycut won't be easy, they'll be challenges and maybe I'll get a job I don't really enjoy, but as long as I don't get that absolute dread in the pit of my stomach, I'll be ok. More than ok :p:)

    Decluttering:
    73. old letters from friends

    I did a tip run this morning. I love going more than is normal! It brings back memories of going to the tip with my dad when I was kid. At the time, the tip was just a big hole in the ground and you had to reverse up to it but there were only small buffer things to stop your car going too far :eek: I was always terrified that my dad would reverse us into the big stinky hole and we'd never get out but at the same time, I loved the peril. Strange child! Obviously my dad was a perfectly competent driver and we never ended up living like Stig of the Dump :rotfl:

    I've had another sofa day today......this time I was sorting out old letters. There were quite a few random letters from people I met on holiday or briefly worked with so they've been read and shredded. I can barely remember who they are which is weird. The others have been sorted into senders and clipped together to be read as and when. Isn't it a shame that people don't write letters anymore? I've got so use to messaging people on fac3book, just brief messages, or just an odd comment on their posts that in some ways I don't feel like I know them anymore. Proper old friends that is, not colleagues and acqaintances that I've not had that kind of relationship with. Anyway, even though I do keep up to date with people by following them on fac3book, I only see what they choose to write and post about. I think if the internet hadn't happened, we'd still be writing via snail mail and it would be lovely and personal. But then if the internet hadn't happened, mse wouldn't have happened and I'd still be in massive debt with no idea how to clear it! Apples and oranges!! :D

    I've had a quick look at some of the letters my good friends used to send and oh they're funny. One friend was weighing up 2 different guys she was sort of dating, listing pros and cons of each. Just like Ross in Friends when he was choosing between Rachel and Julie ;) Anyway, I think she definitely picked the right one as she's now married to him and has 3 kids! I'm going to read the rest sometime and give them back to them to read and destroy or keep for posterity. I did think about keeping them for blackmail purposes but I'm really not that kind of person :rotfl::D

    Have a great week y'all :)

    I love letters. I have a few friends in Australia and we write using nice pens and nice paper. We add tiny things like cards from places we have been to or chocolate. I love getting letters! I've said it before, but you should write something creative...
    Glad you are enjoying your time off
