    I'm so sad that the Olympics is nearly over, it's been so good. I've watched nothing else so I've got some catching up to do, mainly Emmerd@le really. I usually watch C0rrie too but in all honesty, I haven't really missed either soap. I was a huge fan of East3nders years ago and I really never thought there would be a time when I wouldn't watch it but I grew to hate it in the end. Even though the tv is on most of the time when I'm at home, I hardly sit and watch it cause I'm usually distracted with surveys :rotfl: I guess it's just nice to have the company and the noise :D

    I'm not a very assertive person usually but I've had 2 incidences lately where I've confronted people, just random people who have done wrong (in my opinion). Maybe it's just my increasing age and not caring as much or my frustration with my current life but shouting at people has been quite.........exciting :D The 1st time was at a supermarket and I watched a young woman, who appeared to be very able bodied, just push her trolley to the side of her car. She was parked opposite the trolley park :o So I told her to take it back and she did :T I can kind of understand just leaving a trolley if you're struggling to walk or whatever, but it annoys me so much when people do it. What happens if there's a gust of wind and the trolley blows into an innocent persons car? :rotfl:

    Then the other day, I was happily going along at 30mph (in a 30) when a car just sped up my bum, tailgated me then started gesturing with his hands for me to move out of the way or speed up. I kept to 30 and I slowed down to get through the narrow gates into the work car park and he followed me in :eek: I reversed into a space but he drove into one so he got out of his car quicker than me and as he walked past, I wound my window down and shouted at him. He didn't even look at me and carried on sheepishly into the building :p;) It turned out he was late for his appointment with a colleague but she refused to see him as he was too late :rotfl: No excuse for driving like a tw*t though.

    I don't know why I'm recording this really but it feels so unlike me to be assertive and a bit confrontational but I quite like it. To quote Sam Cooke, "a change is gonna come". I'm changing. My life will change. Things will be different. Better hopefully. And to quote some lyrics from a R0cky H0rror song.......

    let the sun and light come streaming into my life

  • Hmmm not sure Ena, I'm all for being assertive but me personally, I only tell people off like this when I'm a bit down, and I usually feel really indignant-angry at the time. Just be careful that you're not turning into a grumpy old woman! I'm glad the colleague refused to see the dodgy driver though :)

    I had to take today as annual leave as there's been a big event on between home and work and I couldn't face getting stuck in traffic :) A nice long weekend and practice for next weekends even long break from work :D

    Sunday 21st August
    * £6.17 in H0me Barg@ins
    * £33.26 in T3sco
    * 2 PA surveys

    Today
    * £40 to the handyman for a couple of jobs
    * £53 for the oven and hob to be cleaned. Looks brand new, can't believe it :T
    * £3.10 in Bee&Q for paint testers
    * £1.59 in H0mebase for a paint tester that Bee&Q didn't have!
    * £5.69 for lunch
    * £5.89 on sweets for my niece and nephew and maybe a few for me too :o
    * 0nep0ll survey
    * 157SB earned!

    It's going to be a bit of a spendy week. I need to get the paint for my bedroom plus I'm having my hair done and a facial. Luckily that's all budgeted for otherwise it'd be cancelled as it's not payday until Friday and things are a bit "squeaky" tight. I've got enough food and petrol so it will be ok.

  • Loving the assertiveness — much better than silently stewing over bad behaviour and sticking to passive aggression! :) Maybe it is getting older, in all seriousness. I become more confident the older I get and lots of women have said the same (apparently having kids also drastically increases confidence, but I will not be trying that!) Perhaps we get to a point where we're fed up with all the s**t and are forced to try to do something about it ;)

    I'm agreeing with Aspiring here. Loud tutting achieves nothing :)

    * 0nep0ll surveys

    Today

    * £59.44 in T3sco on groceries, household things and quite a few cat food pouches, biscuits and litter

    * VO survey and a £15 Am@zon voucher redeemed
    * £3.74 sweep into my FD savings account

    I counted up my coca-c0la tin with the secret lid and there's £73.77 in there so everytime I'll go food shopping, I'll use cash and transfer the equivalent to my Nati0nwide CC that's been used to pay for my carpet and lamps. I'll hopefully get it paid off within a couple of months but I may end up using savings / EF / new life fund ;)

    I got home from work on Tuesday and came over all energetic (this is a very rare occurrence :D) and really wanted to clear some of my jungle garden. I've got an electric hedge trimmer which is quite handy for chopping the really tall stuff so I plugged it in and out in the garden I went. It is a proper jungle with stinging nettles so of course I got stung, went to chop that bad boy down and managed to go through the cord. I was in the garden less than 30 seconds so that was that :rotfl: Really not cut out for any kind of gardening......clearly! I had a quote recently for £500 ish to clear the garden, lay sheeting down and stone it so I might as well just leave it to the professionals. I hope to get that done in the next couple of months, once it's stopped growing :p

    The decorator has been here today, from 7.30am :eek: The colour on the walls looks lovely, so fresh and up to date and I can't wait to get it all set up like a boutique hotel room. I need to get some floorboards fixed before the new carpet is laid so I won't see the full effect yet. Delayed gratification strikes again ;)

    Happy bank holiday weekend y'all :D

  • You sound like me as far as gardening goes - I hate it so much! I'm getting ready to pay someone to do ours so at least I have your quote as a ballpark figure.

    Yeah some people love it, never quite seen the attraction really but I'd like it to look nice. I just can't be bothered to put the effort in :rotfl:

    Hope you find someone decent to get it sorted :)
