Good on you Mr_Toad. I bet that was a very special part of your friends wedding.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

    Marie Curie rapid response team.

Without them my Fil would not have had his wish of dying at home.

We can never thank them enough.

I'd love to be able to ice skate properly. I watch the championships on tv and think wow that's amazing.

I've been playing the guitar badly for 30 years.:D

I've only ever played in public once, when a friend got married they had a live band for the reception. Somehow, after a few beers, a few of us who play, and I use the word loosely, decided we'd surprise them by getting up and playing.

So, one drummer with lousy timing, a bass player, a keyboard player and me and another friend on guitar spent weeks practicing two songs in secret.

After the abject terror had worn off we quite enjoyed it!

As a result I admire anyone who plays live music. :T

I've only ever played in public once when my husband's band was committed to a charity gig that his bassist couldn't make. I had 6 weeks to learn to play and also to learn the set  I found being on stage was both terrifying and exhilirating(sp) in equal measures, I wanted to get up and do it again the very next night!

Somebody on another forum once said they admired single parents that get up and haul their @rses off to work every day to support their family. I'd have to go with that one too even though I have been one of them :rotfl:

I admire people with a strong work ethic, that put others before themselves, who strive for better and don't look around blaming others if things don't quite work out :D

I admire people in the armed forces. To do their job takes a special kind of courage.

I admire single parents full stop, especially those without a lot of family/ex support. How anybody manages to raise happy, well adjusted children on their own and not then drop dead of exhaustion and stress on their 18th birthday is beyond me.

    Thank you.

Everyone's face was a picture when we got up, I think they all thought it was an elaborate joke until we started to play. :)

I'd love to have been a musician. Don't get me wrong I love my job and I'm fortunate enough to get paid for doing something I'd do as a hobby but to have been able to earn a living from playing an instrument...........

Same here, I love my job too, I teach. We have a number of clubs for the children to learn different musical instruments. At the end of the summer term they put on a concert for the school and all the staff. I sit in awe of these 10 and 11 year olds and quietly think to myself that I wish I had half their talent. There is one boy who is just awesome on the drums and I can see him going far.

I think to be musically talented is a special gift.
