The reason why you was asked to discuss the daily comps here instead of on the actual comping board is because people like me who are subscribed to the thread have had 6 emails so far today letting me know there has been a update to the thread.

trouble is none of the 6 thread bumps are for competitions just people talking!

I hope you don't mind me wading in but I have a suggestion to make it easier but keep them on the main board.

How about putting the same comps from each mag in one post
ie:

So, you would post the comp then add the links for the same comp. I think there are 8 for this one. It would reduce the amount of work too

I was oblivious to the change till it happened. I often think go about in my own bubble lol.
I think that it will work as well as the other way and it's just the initial change that people are having probs with.
The was I see it people spend hours on here putting comps/answers in their own time out of the goodness of their heart and whatever makes it easier for them is OK. I did prefer it before but will adapt to give a break for them who post.

Daphne, feel free to wade in! I think though that having the mags all jumbled would make it more confusing, I can see where you are coming from in that people could then enter all 8 comps at once for a particular item but you would need to hop between all the different mags to do it, then start over again for the next item. It would also mean maybe 35 or more different posts being open at any one time to group all the different comps together. Sorry if i have got the gist of your idea wrong? Been a very long day in this house!!

The problem there is the majority of people never come here, and with such a major change to the way a lot of competitions are posted, it should be open to everyone to have a view - if it wasnt Good Friday, i would not have time to come onto this thread, ive only ever been here once or twice before - in fact i am still trying to catch up on all the comps from this week!

I think the main problem with these comps is the daily comp board - when a daily comp is posted on the main board, it then has to be posted in the daily board as well.

Now, i do not use the daily board at all, i understand why it is there (unlike the weekly board, i miss comps on there because i dont have time to do the main board and then go into that board everyday to find which comps are that day only) however, if i find a daily comp that i want to enter everyday, i take it upon myself to save it in a daily comp file i have and then each morning i can wizz through them, without having to look through all the comps, the majority of which i dont want to enter. Just because i comp that way, doesnt mean everyone else does so sometimes we have to be flexible.

However, i would be willing to bet my house that the majority of people who comp via MSE will not be regular daily comp board users, and so i always tend to side with the we should post for what is best for the majority, not the minority. Its a shame we are unable to find out how many people comp each way, but whenever there have been polls, only a small amount of compers ever vote, so we never get a comprehensive result. I base my judgement on the amount of likes competitions get, you dont get as many likes in the weekly or daily comps threads as you do with comps posted on the main board. (Some weekly comps are not on the main board as they do not have an end date, and from what ive seen of the daily board, not as many likes on the sticky as to the actual main board post)

As i mentioned earlier, i go through the main board, and if i see a comp i dont want to enter (or cant in the case of tickets etc) i can just skip past it really quickly, with this way, i have to go in and search through all the comps to find the ones i want. If i want to enter one daily, i have to go and search through them all everyday to find the ones i want - i know that there is an excellent list of each that cornish pasty is keeping up to date, but each day more will be added, so more to look through to find the few i might want to be entering.

Ive seen that the reason for this is because there are now so many competitions that need posting on the main board, and then in the daily section its giving those posters a lot more work, but surely, finding the mag thread and posting there is sightly more work than just posting on the main board (as you have to find the magazine thread first) and then you are relying on someone updating the first page lists for the dailies so that is still work for someone - what if that person cant do it early in the day, or has to go away etc? I would have thought if someone has to update a list, its the same as posting in the dailies section as posting on the first page of that thread.

I really cannot see how this improves things for compers, as i said earlier, it will probably cut the amount of entries for these comps as people will not have time to search through it all (much like the puzzler/take a break ones, they never get as many thanks as the magazine ones (pick me up/chat etc) on the main board, i still dont understand why those are bundled together in that way! I dont complain about those as because they are one entry only, if im busy and dont enter for a week, it tends not to matter - these magazines with their daily entries, if ive not had chance to go through one day, ive missed that day) If i have time, once i have done all the main board comps, i will go and have a look, but if, like most of this week ive been a bit behind, then i will miss out.

If this stays like this im not going to be overly bothered, there are so many comps on MSE that no one can complain about missing a handful, but i (and maybe quite a few others, we have no way of knowing if it will be lots of just a few) know that i will be missing comps that i would have once entered as they were on the main board, not hidden away in a seperate thread.

Ive babbled enough, probably confused everyone as well as myself now, but hopefully ive managed to explain myself, if not, sorry!:o

I like the new thread. I tend to open each magazine competition post once and once I see the answer I always tend to remember them (I even know which radio button to select if the answers do not appear straight away!).

Yes that's what I mean I just open each comp as it's listed in my bookmark file anyway so they're all mixed up. Once you're logged into each one it doesn't really matter if they're not all the same mag together at the same time.

I've not visited the new thread yet as I'm wading through the last couple of days still and would normally come upon the new dailies and add them, no time to visit other threads yet so I think I'll just have to give them a miss for now
