    Morning All

Snow here! Everywhere is white but the snow seems to be quite wet so hopefully the roads will be ok. You lot take care going out, I think we are being let off lightly compared to some of you.

Woke this morning at 6.30 which is unheard of! Can't believe I slept so long. May have been the shock of having to go for a food shop last night, got what I needed but was totally uninspired by anything different. I think I will have to start being a little more inventive.

    Take care. XX

    Morning Everyone

The snow is coming down thick and fast here - poor birds are struggling to get to the feeders as its so windy too.

Glad OH is off today (hes a lorry driver delivers to farms).

Don't think I'm going to venture out today stay warm by the fire and try and learn more from this site.

Dinner is mince beef and spinach cannelloni - another first for me fingers crossed. sounds lovely when you read the recipe.

The schools here always tend to close early due to bad weather being rural they worry the teachers won't be able to get home! there words not mine.

Halight I have always wanted to have hens but wouldn't know where to start.

Be careful and safe all who need to venture out - no dought i'll pop my nose back later to catch up

  • Hi all

Well we look fine out of the window today and it looked on the weather last night as though we will escape the snow <fingers crossed>.

One of my ebay parcels has not arrived to a customer (I sent it 2nd class recorded on the 14th) so it looks as though I'm going to have to refund her and then go into the post office to see if I can make a claim. Does anyone have any experience of this? The refund is going to eat into the £52 that I have to last me until the end of the month, so I am back to stretching the pounds again. :(

Finished my recycled carrier shopping bag but it was my first attempt and I am making some amendments - so I am now working on Phase Two. :D

Tea tonight will be homemade burger from the freezer and chips - a quick affair as we have to be out quickly to go to a wine & cheese party to raise money for Water Aid. The tickets are already paid for so we just need a little money for raffle tickets.

Well, time for work - have a good, safe and warm day all. :)

    Morning all,

what a night that was! Being on top of a hill we get every gale going and i heard every icy blast! As you can tell i didnt sleep very well.

I got up twice to use the bathroom, once because i thought the side gate was going to blow off and once to put the heating on as by this time it was 5 and i was frozen even with the electric blanket on.

Shant be doing any random wanderings on impulse today as its too cold and the snow is too thick which leaves me with the usual chores.

Thinking of my poor Postie in this awful weather.... bet he wont have his shorts on today.:D

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Dull, cloudy, lightly snowing but not laying and bitterly cold wind here this morning. According to the weathermen we should escape the worst of the weather, we'll see.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was lasagne, stuffed baked potatoes, and beans/veg. Choc cake for those that had room, I didn't have anything else.

Was reasonably productive yesterday, got washing, drying and ironing done - but somehow the basket is full again this morning! Did change all the beds though. So will crack on with this. Did housework, menu planned - checked what I'd actually got in the freezer and managed to find 2 x packs of sausages, 1 x pack of stewing beef, so included with other bits I've been able to cobble together a menu for the coming week. I have a list of the items I need and I will go over budget but will check whilst in the SM that there' s not acceptable cheaper alternatives to what's on the list! I managed to eek an extra portion out of the meat mixture last night and already have some LO mash in the fridge, so have used it to make an individual cottage pie for my dinner tonight, I'll just have it with some veg and gravy, the menfolk will probably have something and chips - which I don't eat.

Have a reasonably busy day - big car is booked in for a service and MOT - so will take that and then go to town, food shopping, home and crack on with jobs, want to get some baking/cooking done today too.

Perhaps will get chance to pop back later.

Keep safe and well, take it steady those with snow x

Morning, it's snowing here too! Doesn't seem to be laying though, so hopefully not too much chaos on the roads. Today I need to go to the gym, over to an office to do some work, then food shopping for the weekend.
Tomorrow we head off to take my son on his weekend away for his 21st birthday. Me, 2 staff and son. He is excited and I hope the snow doesn't make the journey a nightmare. I am half excited, half terrified......holidays with my son can be eventful so say the least. Usually at least 1 trip to A&E and he seems to like trying out the medical centres at any attractions we visit too. The staff coming are lovely, calm and know how to support my son really well. We have all the planning and paperwork done, we all know what our roles are if there's an incident, so hopefully it'll be wonderful.
All work pretty much done apart from this morning's task.......next week it should all slow down again as we enter the planning stage of the next project (in my 'other' job). Also thinking about applying for another role.....very part time and in the disabilities area again. It might end up that i am busier than I want to be, but would ease the cash flow no end.
Take care all, and warm wishes and hugs to those going through difficult times.

    Good morning all,

It's snowing and blowing a gale here, brrr. I've got an opticians appointment this morning hopefully we can get there and back quickly. Dh has to nip to the next town to do a job and we also need to do our Mr A shop. Hopefully we all be done by lunch and we can get back and light the fire.
I'm thinking the optician will maybe say I have to wear Varifocals which I'm dreading, I know they are s pensive and I just don't want to wear glasses all the time. I hate that I have such a strong reading prescription, and it now seems my distance is pretty bad too :(
save a holic don't give a refund straight away. It's awful to say but some people are just trying it on. Email to say you will check with the post office and make a claim. IF the item wasn't delivered and you can verify this then you will make a refund. It's the only fair way to be sure they are not just taking the item and getting their money back, I've learned from bitter experience. Hope that helps. I find that if its a bogus claim you won't hear from them again. If not they should see your being fair about it.
Hoping to go out for a curry with friends tonight, they are paying and driving as a thanks for a favour hubby did, but don't fancy going if its heavy snow.
Have a good day, stay safe and warm
Oops forgot to say, HAYLIGHT go to the docs, please I worry about you never having any sleep:eek:

Halight I have always wanted to have hens but wouldn't know where to start.

Hen's are quite easy to keep.

But Set up costs can be on the high side, But once you have the house and equipment, It will last a long time.

you can save money by buying a second hand coop and giving it a good clean.

There are loads of web sites out there with free Info On keeping chickens,

Also there are some very good books about that are not too dear.

Facebook also have quite a few member groups were you can chat and learn from. I'm a member of about 5 of them. All UK ones.

Chickens are great to keep, Very funny to watch, Each one has its own little ways.

Plus the eggs, You will never go back to supermarket eggs ever again.

    Morning :hello:

No snow here, just wind and rain. Poor chicks, they look completely fed up. I've just filled their feeder and water trays. Trays - because mr tru broke their large drinker which cost about £25 and is quite new  They're using a couple of large seed trays atm, which I have to keep rinsing out because they love kicking mud into them. I think a couple of them have worms so have ordered some feed with flubenvet mixed in.

Master tru had a few too many last night :D so his boss said he could work tomorrow instead of today. Not a usual thing for him to do, but he was having a little celebration so was allowed, lol.

Need to go shopping today, not much to do around the house so will be having a lazy afternoon.

HAYLIGHT go to the docs, please I worry about you never having any sleep

I spoke to the doctor about it last week, When I went with my wrist.

Not a lot can really be done, its down to the steroids that I'm Taking.

She dose not really won't to give me anything to help me sleep, As this could mask any New Symptoms from the tumor, She did say that If it got very bad, And I started to have real trouble coping with it then she would speak to my consultant and see if there was anything that She could give me.
I'm already on Four different tablets, So Really I don't think I really won't to take any more on top. they might start to react with each other, They might already be doing that,

I'm In the top half of the list now for the OP, So i'm hoping it will not be too much longer Before I can have it.
