People with 3 young kids - What car do you have???

We've been needing a new car for a while, but waited to see if we would have a third child as knew that would make a difference in our choice.

Well that time has come and we need a car that will take 3 car seats in the back with a huge boot to take a double pram and all the stuff we need to traipse around.

Will have 3 kids under 4 so need 3 proper car seats too. Did wonder if I could just use a booster seat for the eldest, but he is still really small, so want to keep him in a proper car seat.

Just wondering what everyone else drives and if you have enough boot space for all the stuff they need too.

Ta x

Hi, we have a Ford CMax, has a massive boot and can just about fit 3 car seats in the back, we have 3 girls although one is in a booster now it did fit to under 4 year seats and a baby seat before :) we have had the car for about 7 years and I still love it. Very spacious and brilliant boot. We went camping for a week last year and managed to squeeze everything in x
  • Thanks. We have the Skoda Octavia just now & love it. We really wanted the Superb estate, but had a look today, and I just can't see how 3 seats will fit in the back. Had a look at the Ford Galaxy, but not sure I want a mini bus!! Did see the CMax & picked up a brochure for it but didn't really have a good look :( And the thought of going back with 2 bored kids in tow doesn't really appeal! I'm going to do online investigating then just go and buy one! x

we had a renault megane sceanic which we could get 3 seats in but now have a 7 seater zafira so the eldest can sit in the back by himself next to the pushchair...not tried a holiday with this one yet though lol

Hey there-we had this problem not so long ago, we have a renualt megane scenic, the seats individually move slightly in the back so you can have the seats slightly more forward to get the best fit. Something like this _-_ lol.
We had 2 booster seats with the backs still on (graco) and a larger graco baby seat. We went for this rather than the bigger cars as i wanted to still feel i was driving a car and still have the kids at a reachable distance. Didn't want one kid right at the back in the boot ect like with the zafiras.
The other we looked at was a peugeot mpv can't remeber the name.
  • I really don't want a people carrier, I just want a big, wide car with a huge boot. Surely that isn't too much to ask?!! :rotfl:

We had looked at the scenic last time, but the boot wouldn't take the double pram :( Well, it would, but then we'd get nothing else in. I need to fit the pram in on it's side, so I can get other stuff down the other side. Otherwise, it takes up the whole boot & stuff has to go on top of it, but then you can't get the pram out!

We have a grande scenic and it's boot is huge. We managed to pack it with four large suitcases, a pushchair, five sets of hand luggage, as well as all of the usual things that live in a boot. I would be shocked if you could not fit a twin pram in one as our Uppababy which is unusually large fits in with loads of room to spare.

We have a citroen berlingo as we liked having full height for the whole of the boot space. However if you prefer something that looks more like a car then the picasso has the same seating configuration, just the boot isnt as high

Also kids love the high seating position as it means they can see out the window. I also like the sliding doors so getting smaller ones in and out in tight parking spaces is easy
  • I need to have another look at the scenic!

Flea - I forgot I fancied sliding doors, cos trying to get the kids out the back when you're parked can sometimes be a nightmare!

Citroen Picasso has a massive boot, plus the back seats are 3 individual full size seats that will take 3 car seats no problem.
If my posts have random wrong words, please blame the damn autocorrect not me :D

Ours is the seven seat rather than the five seat if that makes any difference to available space?
