daughter being made to go to work and give up degree

So OP as i understand it your daughter has never contributed to the welfare system via tax and yet she expects to be given JSA that is rich, she is just as bad as those claiming and drinking and smoking their benefit money you go on about.
I have never met anyone who can save and fund a degree course while getting JSA so your daughter must live at home, just can't fathom how she actually supports herself apart from savings and JSA.0 -
Fine if she wants to study then she can pay for it rather than leeching from the tax payers (of which I would assume you are one).
I studied both a BSc and an MBA in my own time with my own money, whilst working full time. I did it because I wanted to improve my earning capability and not some made up notion of being a benefit to the country.
I think that rant was the wrongly directed wrath of Boycott Workfare.
From the information provided, I don't believe the JCP have offered this girl workfare, but actual paid work.
I can see that it is not a resourceful use of this young lady's skills, but it is part of the conditionality of JSA. You can escape the conditionality by giving up the JSA.
Essentially, the mother thinks that the subsistence of JSA can be applied to whatever situation the claimant sees fit, when the truth is, the money is meant to cover utilities and food. Whether or not the sum is fit for purpose is not for this discussion.
Ideally, the mother should take the whole JSA for her daughter's accommodation.0 -
Some of the replies on this forum have made me log back in and leave a post.
We have a government that has let the bankers rob over 1 Trillion from the taxpayers purse. and nobody says a thing.
Yet a young girl would rather do Art than work for mr tesco's and your attacking her for following her dream!! what happened to the empathy in your soul.... where has it gone?
not everyone is born to work as a slave to the tax system. if you are, then thats fine but don't have a go at a free human, striving to improve their quality of life and knowledge. No qualms about using the tax funded system to do this though eh?
your all forgetting what it is to be human... thinking that striving and paying bills and taxes is the only way. It is not. you should be ashamed. and never judge a person till you have walked a mile in there shoes.....
also you need to REMEMBER a few home truths.....
economic slavery is exactly the same as slavery.... except some people just can't see it.
Did you forget that slavery is illegal? forcing someone to work for you is slavery. (yes the government and tesco are the same)
anyone remember what facism is?? its when the state is taken over by corporations - (you should look into that). Actually facism only applies to the rule of Mussolini in Italy in the 20's & 30's after then it is a borrowed term.
if the banksters had not nicked all our money, this young girl would be getting a student GRANT to pursue her dreams. LIKE MANY OF YOU DID. Except it is a second degree.
All i'm saying is that the media and this government are playing the divide and rule strategy (again) poor against poorer in this case.
and you lot have fallen for it. so hang your head in shame and go and help a homeless person. because when it all gets really bad. the people who were protecting the banks and there puppets in government will be shunned and hated the most.
repent now and save your souls!!
Nothing to repent and considering your idealist post I would suggest religion is the least of our worries.0 -

The OP family and ancestors have been paying taxes for hundreds and hundreds of years.
They payed them in the misguided belief that the government/system would look after them and there family.
Instead the government is attacking the young, sick, elderly and disabled and forcing them to work to pay more taxes!
Entitlement!!!?
If our system was fair there would be no rich elite! and all food, energy housing would be paid for by the state. or at least the wealth spread evenly.
we live in a world of plenty. yet some at the top are too greedy.
THIS is why we have poor people and a population of people who will never do ANYTHING other than work and pay taxes then die.0 -

she might not have actually had a full time job but she has had the odd part time jobs over the years but, unfortunately, the shops have fallen to the recession and closed down. She then used her spare time to do voluntary work, which in my mind is contributing and not being paid for it. She has tried to get another part time job but nothing is available so, rather than just sitting on her butt she is working damn hard in a voluntary capacity instead. Myself and the wife (her parents) have worked all our lives as have our own parents, so, she does come from a family that have contributed.
If she wanted to do admin work like the job centre are making her she wouldve gone down that route instead of the art route, but, her talents lay with art, she has a talent which would be shameful to waste. We all have our strengths so why should we ignore them.
If everyone thought about not bothering to be educated and just go straight to work there would be no professionals about. Our son works in the medical field and also did uni to reach his target but, luckily for him he was allowed to then carry on learning on the job. He self-funded by having a job at the time too rather than use student finance, but, only because hed already got the job and was given the opportunity.
And my daughter is no way spoilt, she is the kindest, genuine person ever who would go out of her way to help anyone - i just dont like how this world is treating her. Ok, we may have mollycoddled her a bit but, thats what you do with your kids if you love them. She couldve been saddled with a couple of kids by now but she has made the decision not to and wouldnt be so selfish as to bring kids into the world she knows she doesnt want and cant keep.0 -

It is a bit much for people who were heavily indoctrinated by the government school system.
You go watch TV and let those who can, debate.
Why is tax not voluntary?
if we liked our society we would happily pay into a system that treated everyone fairly.
instead they use threats and force and stealth to steal everyones hard earned fruits of labor.
also...
Why don't we (The UK) control the issuance of our own currency? privately owned banks control our money supply. why is that?
people should research about ICELAND. they have told these privately owned banks to stuff their debts, and as a result are now thriving!!
we need to do the same. georgie ozzy could do it with 1 signature. but he is OWNED by the banks.
More people need to realize this.0 -

She hasnt got the job yet - the interview is next week but, im going to tell her to forget it and we will fund her. She has something lined up for when she is fully qualified and has already done some published art work which has helped her to get this position, but, its just funding the degree in the meantime. No, the position cannot offer her a part time job to help, it doesnt work like that.
That sounds ike a full time degree in which case she is ineligible for any benefits and has been claiming fraudulently.0 -
