Baby travel systems (merged)

Hiya x
They reccomend that baby is not left in the car seat for more than 2 hours - so it would be fine to have a chassis that fitted the car seat as long as baby wasn't in it for more than 2 hours without a break.
I have bought my pram already - but no baby so can't really comment on how much I like it yet...
Firstly you need to make a shortlist of what you NEED...
Things like size - does it need to fit in the back of a small boot?
Do you really need a lie flat carry cot? I have got one but I bought mine 2nd hand on ebay and then just replaced the mattress in it.
The reason I didn't buy a new one is everyone I have spoken too has hardly used their carry cot.
I saw a really nice lightweight travel system in Mothercare the other day with my Mum but have just looked on the website - but I don't recognise it.
The other thing is the baby chat forum I go on really like the silvercross 3D - If you are feelign brave when you are out and about why not stop a Mum who has one and ask what she thinks of it.
Okay - So I haven't been much help - But I would say go into places like John Lewis / Mothercare and have a look at a few and see what you like and dislike and go from there.
Once you have decided on a shortlist ask for peoples opinions - I used MSE, confetti and baby centre to get real life opinions.
Also which have a fairly recent review of travel systems - Its free to join for a month at the mo.

Good Luck with the pregnancy and baby x:heart2:Mum to my little Daisy 3 and Archie 1.:heart2:0 -
I've been a childminder for 14 yrs, and have found that Hauck is one of the best makes around. The only one, in my opinion which surpasses it is Jane.
I'm currently using a travel cot which I bought from Toys R Us in Calais, over 10 yrs ago!

thankyou all who have replied and you have been helpfull alison6692
its a hard choice because they are alot of money arnt they?and with 2 other kids i bought one expensive one and one cheap one and they both had something wrong with them after a short period.
i have started to go into shops to test them out so i will keep dragging other half round looking!
thanks againappreciate what you have got x0 -
What about a Mamas and Papas Pramette? It is lie flat and rear facing from birth but when baby is about three months, you turn the hood around, take the liner out and you have a forward facing buggy.
You can pick them up in fantastic condition from Ebay if you dont mind second hand or you can get them new off there as well for less then in the stores.0 -
Hey its okay x Its soo difficult and even now I am worried that I have made the wrong decision - ha ha!
Once you have a short list post back here and I am sure people will tell you what they think of them.

I've now got this one:
http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplayA_37+342_10751_-1_14552_2504_10001_14552
And I love it, its light, easily to put up and collapse (Hubby can do it without constant instruction!), has about 5 seating positions and comes with raincover & cosytoes.
I also had:

Which I was also happy with but the seam came apart and one of the wheels buckled (got left in direct sunlight/warmth so weakened it) so it went back. I would have had another one but they'd changed the pattern of the material so the car seat wouldn't have matched. I know thats not the point but I wanted it to match!! The car seat & base was absolutely fantastic
Hope that helps:heart2: Charlie born Aug 2007 :heart2: Reece born May 2009

If you were thinking of getting the Silver Cross travel system with the car seat, bear in mind that their car seats only last the baby until they are 22lb - all the others on the market now (as far as I'm aware) will carry the baby until they are 29lb - and the longer you can leave them in those seats rearward facing, the safer they are.:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

Hi,
I have 2 kids and used several travel systems/buggies with dd1. However with ds I got the M&P Pliko travel system which has been great. It is big and comfy enough for a small baby but also great just as a buggy now ds is 2. Light, easy to use and looks lovely. I can't think of any negatives! Have a google and look and see what you think!0
