You shouldn;t use second hand car seats in case they've been in a crash, and you need a carrycot or lie-flat pushchair for a newborn.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

New carseat everytime, even just the wear and tear from a baby using it birth-9months/1year can render a car seat useless for a tiny baby in an accident, not worth it when new ones start from around £50. The pram etc doesn't matter though it has only been with my third that we actually got a flat pram (actually carry cot for DS2's large 3 wheeler buggy that was bought as a special needs buggy and used for 5 months or so). However... guess what I'm doing? Ebaying to get myself a loola parent facing pushchair (because my little princess NEEDS it
) I don't like seeing babies in car seats unless they are actually in the car *ducks for cover*
Personally I dislike the quinny because it looks uncomfy (though thats my taste and you probably don't like my choices either), but I do agree that for the price of a cheap it'll-do pram you can get a great second hand pram from eBay.
Or let her get the travel system and just buy a quinny from eBay for when she wants a buggy in about 6 months timeOr buy it for you to use.
Men just don't understand the addiction of prams, you guys have cars, we mothers have prams (and buggies, pushchairs, breast pumps, pretty dresses/cute dungarees, christmas baby outfits.... or is that just me?)
Best of luck with the pregnancy and little one.0 -

Son 2 rarely used the carry cot piece of the last travel system, in the house it was the moses basket, then when out and about, we would travel in the car, so the car seat was used on top of the pram.
Carry cot became the toy storage box after a whilst
I've seen this one, with no car seat but a carrycot. So ideal to have and purchase a different car seat, and transfer baby over.
A bit like the olden days..0 -

Our last system was one of these..

It was over £450, this time round we are wise. The pram was far far far far far too big, hard to push. I want a 3 wheeler, needed for tough terrain. Might need to take her out to see a Quinny. Rather this than some cheap & nasty Mothercare System.
The other idea is that the 2 year old can use it until the birth of the little one in July...
I plan to buy now, it in red then that way its good for boy or girl. Need to come with a moscito net as standard, be open for wind to get it. Were moving to Cyprus you see, so need it for the warm weather.

Stay away from pneumatic blow up tyres. Thats why I'm changing mine, it gets a flat pretty much every week (actually front tyre has been flat for weeks and I just can't be bothered changing it!).
Actually, I do quite like the quinny buzz (its parent facing and has solid wheels).
I blame you if I make bids.0 -
I have the iCandy Apple which I like and it's very sturdy. But they're not hugely cheap although CAN be picked up second hand
Next baby I wouldn't think twice about using second hand or saving the travel system from this one
It's done us proud so far and whilst I loved buying new then I think it was because it was our first moer than anything...

the reason she wants a new one is cos while you're at work all week and might use it once, maybe twice a week, she uses it every day, so any small niggles she has with how it work will really get to her
i speak from experience, my sons buggy has front wheels that can lock in a straight line or swivel, and the lock keeps getting caught when i get it in and out the car, its annoying. and the cosytoes slips down, thats annoying. and its harder to collapse than it used to be cos its got stiff with use, thats annoying. none of those things really warrant getting a new one, but if i have another baby i'll want another for those reasons, IYSWIM. not to mention the safety issues of re-using car seats...Mummy to

The Quinny Buzz lies right back to the horizontal, so is there really a need for a carry cot.?0
-
i'd say so - the buggy will drown the baby as a newborn, and the carry cot can be used as somewhere for the baby to sleep when not in the house too.Mummy to
