    Hi all,

Rose - love your cushion pads, really pretty :)

LL - yay on the new haircut and clothes, you deserve a treat and am glad you're managing to get a bit of rest, hopefully it will have you feeling better soon x

Maman - glad your weekend away went well, I really need one I think :)

Anyway, been on with the moneymaking this week. Started back with the match betting, getting some items on ebay and have someone coming to rent my parking bay for a week on Saturday. Small amounts so far but you have to start somewhere and hopefully will build up soon. In-laws are up tomorrow so think that's probably my weekend - though going to try to get along to a local car boot on Sunday and see if it looks worth trying (though don't have a car so hoping they may do stalls as well, will have to see).

Wow! you're doing well with the compliments sparkles. Great feeling!:)

At last some sunshine so I'm starting to feel a little more lively. Hope it's infectious.

Did some serious defuzzing today. I had a thought that my legs haven't seen the light of day for months and just in case there's a slight chance I might wear other than opaques or trousers I should get myself sorted.

Lovely cushions rose, your home must be looking great now. Do you ever visit the shabby chic thread? I got as far as washing the loose covers on one of my sofas today. I'll do the other one tomorrow before rain comes on Friday.

I went to see an amazing production of Birdsong yesterday. The acting was fantastic and had the audience spellbound throughout. It's part way through a national tour if anyone's interested.

Glad you're making a start on fundraising pod. It'll all help.

    Love to all.:)

Not been around this week - one word OFSTED!!!:eek::eek:

We had the dreaded inspection Weds and Thurs only being told about it on Tues at 2pm. I've had 3 hours sleep a night and am shattered.
But on the positive side I got an outstanding grading and so did the school:j:j
Haven't eaten properly for 2 days so just had a frozen pizza for tea - diet and exercise have completely gone out of the window this week.:rotfl:

Looking forward to a soak in the bath and an early night....

    Hope everyone is well?
I'm off to Wales for the funeral tomorrow but will try to pop in to say hello. Have a good weekend. xx

WW - well done on the "outstanding". Fantastic.

Perhaps if I had had teachers as inspiring and as dedicated as you I might have been a better scholar!!! You put an impressive amount of work and effort into your career and take your pupils welfare very seriously. I'm sure your pupils are reaping the benefits. You deserve your commendation.

I'm often quite awestruck by your dedication and I have to say it shows my own school experience in a very poor light. I often think about my own school days when I read about all the work and effort you put into lesson planning etc.

If any of my teachers are still around (well I do see one from time to time) they would be stunned to hear what you do.

I went to a very posh all girls fee paying convent school on a scholarship.

The only teachers who inspired or encouraged me were my English and History teachers - both lay teachers. They both realised that I was under-performing because I was bored rigid. So they both just plied me with books and let me sit at the back of the class reading quietly. :rotfl:

When they had a few minutes to spare - often in the corridor or when I was just loitering around the grounds they would engage me in conversation to find out how I was doing and a quick discussion about what I had read - a bit like an unofficial university tutorial really.

I excelled in both English and History but in all other subjects I just couldn't seem to make much progress.

I wasn't particularly naughty as such but I was always in trouble for some minor misdemeanor. Canings were an almost daily occurrence. Basically, as a working class girl from a council estate I didn't really fit in at school. I always had plenty of friends but the teachers were another matter. Most of them loathed me.

Most of the teachers were nuns, more interested in being God's handmaidens than in being teachers. I was always a square peg trying to fit into a round hole, being a confirmed atheist didn't help my cause much. Most of the teachers were terribly snobbish and deeply resented having to teach scholarship pupils from council estates.

You can imagine how they coped when the school went comp and co-ed. Eventually the school was burnt down - an arson attack. No - not by me .....I was long gone by then :rotfl:

I'm ashamed to say I eventually more or less gave up going to school at around the age of 13, just showing up a couple of days a week. As long as the school got their fees they didn't seem too concerned about my non attendance.

Such a laissez-fayre approach to education would never be allowed today - in those days it seemed quite commonplace. A lot of children played truant then and nobody seemed to care much.

I did use some of my time constructively.......I became something of a fixture in the central library and had an intimate and encyclopaedic knowledge of the exhibits of our museums and art galleries.

The rest of the time I spent equally fruitfully getting to know many of our cities ancient inns and hostelries:rotfl: A bit of slap and a change of clothes made me look as near as dammit 18 rather than 13.

Pub landlords seemed more easy going back then and less inclined to enforce age restrictions. It was a different world back then....., not better, nor worse - just different.

I eventually got my act together and finally went to university when I was 40. :rotfl:
