Damn! I'm 34. You don't want to cause scandal by turning up with an older woman i guess. Ah well, if you're still struggling let me know. I scrub up pretty well and I've got a wardrobe of posh frocks.

Don't think I could compete with a lap dancer though.

    Older, but barely.

I'll certainly keep you in mind, thanks for the concern.
If nearer the time im still single and really nervous i'll PM you and you can decide then.
My sister and her boyfriend will be putting on quite a wedding, im sure.
    Thanks again.
  • Great optimism but, i like to prepare.

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

I can just see me going alone to this wedding, meeting nobody and feeling incredibly lonely and sad.
I dont want that, and i dont want other people seeing me alone.

And having people think 'Look, Stamina's hired himself a hooker to pretend he isn't lonely and sad. Isn't that pathetic?' is an acceptable alternative?

    No, its not.

That's why it would need to be convincing.

I did this 10 years ago come 9th May. I had a plus one invite (I was divorced) and I invited a "friend" from a site very similar to this one called The Moneybag. We were PM friends (had never met before) and she agreed to accompany me. We got on famously, met several times afterwards and (to cut a long story short) have been now happily married for 7 years.

So come on now single MSE ladies, who is prepared to take a chance and take the plunge? At worst you will get a lovely meal and a few drinks!

OP I'm trying my best here, so make the invite sound special!

You do know that nobody will really care that you go yourself. It's extremely unlikely you'd be the only single person there either. There's absolutely no shame in going to a wedding alone. Many would think there's a real issue with taking an escort to wedding!

so don't attempt to pass off a "hired date" as your girlfriend - you won't convince anyone.

Take a female friend as a friend, or a male friend as your guest, and stop stressing - you won't be the only single person there.

    LOL

Well at worst the willing participant would be subject to a beautiful venue for the wedding, lots of live entertainment, bands and drinks.
They'll probably be lots of (im afraid taken) handsome men at the wedding including myself (handsome but not taken), so even if im not what's wanted, they'll be plenty of other 'eye candy' for the lady.

So, its a win win really.
