I once had a seller drop an item through my letterbox in an Asda carrier bag. Sadly this was before the star system.

My postage DSR is 4.6 when I charge exact stamp price only (no packaging and no recorded delivery etc) or sometimes actually charge them less than the stamp price. I've given in and started offering free postage.

I vary between 4.9-5 and charge stamp price plus a little for packing materials.

Now that I can't achieve TRS anymore I am going to increase the packing costs rather than load them onto my item cost- and see how that pans out.

4.87 and I charge cost of stamp + cost of jiffy envelope. My rating has improved since I switched to using old commerative stamps that have the value printed on which I buy from a stamp dealer - part of the problem is that people do not realise how expensive postage has become, especially if it is a small item than needs to be sent as a large letter. People send so few letters most couldn't tell you the cost of a stamp.

But the postage labels in post offices state the price on them...I mean those big gold ones they use...

I admit, as a buyer, I do check the price on the label sometimes if I think I might have been ripped off.

My items all go as 2nd class large letter - they don't have the value written on them.
  • Been stung that way myself - overcharged postage but had forgotten to refund buyer until after they left feedback.

Learn the hard way - check postage costs before listing!

I did something similar when the buyer lived a 10 minute walk away from me, though I wrapped it up nicely. She wasn't in and it was quite a bulky item, so I left it on the porch...

Her feedback was "fastest delivery ever!"

I was going to earn 1p, but as it sold for 1p + postage, I made £3.50 (2nd class 1kg)

Also, I've only received one 1* for postage out of 30, despite inflating my postage slightly, so most buyers don't really care.

Surely though you were no better off apart from a small amount of PayPal fees once you had refunded the postage charge.

I read it as she/he kept the postage charge!

Goodness, I'm not sure many sellers would risk that.
