    I've been Money Tipped!
Dogs sofas are in a skip. I wonder if they will forgive me later? I have to dig out beds for them for later tonight.

The filth under their sofas was utterly shameful.

That makes sense. I do have a feeling that I want somebody to know about it, but I haven't time for it to be me. I remember at my grandmother's funeral last year being pleased to find that a cousin of mine (in her 60s) looked set to take over from the cousin of my dad's (in his late 80s) who's dealt with all that info up until now. "Oh good," I thought, "It will still get done without my having to do it."

Some of ours is done, because its of interest to people who take an interest in that sort of thing,......that's the bit my sibling was interested in to....and because it was important to her and her spouse for her to be on certain social register etc. (pfft, colonial snobs are the worst, huh?) .

Then it gets a bit hazy at points. One of the things that made me laugh was when sibling was having a strop about someone with a title we knew who sibling felt was lording it over her and sibling said ' I mean, for hod's sake.....her grandfather was a butcher, a BUTCHER!'. At which point I pointed out so was our great grandfather(as part of his portfolio of businesses and intersts:D) . Sibling could have shot me at that moment. :D

The problem with starting, when somebody else has been doing it for X years is that you don't want to "rob their work", yet you don't want to duplicate it. Unless you're close to them and can work with them, it's all tricky ... so you leave it.

Even if I found out stuff, there isn't anyone else to tell, unless I harp on to friends. By not having family, I feel 'untethered', if that makes sense, and for me that's a good thing.

Yep. Know that one. The amount of fur, lost dog bisucits and unidentifiable gunge that arrives in a short space of time has to be seen to be believed.

Had an outpatient appointment yesterday. Good news is that I don't have any major circulatory issue, bad news is that the doctor wants to chew half my leg off with a scalpel so I have to go in for minor surgery involving a general anaesthetic which I hate.

Thanks to GDb talking about his retreat and our failed holiday plans this year DH and I are talking about going on a sort of similar thing. We're hoping to have a shufti at the weekend, see if we can find something suitable for later in the year at a cheap cheap price. Without our own horses it should be possible, theoretically.

Go camping, beside the cake. Lock up the house and tramp some cases and a tent into the field. Get out your camping stove, local tourist information leaflets and ordnance survey map, then work out where you're going, as a tourist. Then, visit a pub for Sunday lunch that you didn't know existed until you saw an advert in one of the tourist brochures.

Leave home Friday night, return Sunday night ...... a tourist in your own garden.

Actually ... have you ever looked into becoming a "pop up camp site" in the summer? There are some rules/regs/laws that mean it's possible to do it for a few weeks without any special permissions. Check with the Caravan club. Some people like "no services".

But .... you might discover people to tell. You might find out your mother/father's parent had a baby by somebody else, that wasn't known about/talked about ... who had kids .... and live round the corner from you.

I do have family, cousins, no immediate family, I haven't fallen out with them, perfectly nice people, but just don't get the whole you are related so you stay in touch with them thing. Haven't seen any of them or had contact since my Mums funeral in 1993.

If I have a half sister or brother, I'm just not interested. I'd rather be with people that I have chosen to be with. Not having family means freedom to me, it's a logical choice to me. Though probably not to anyone else as most people seem to like having family:D

Sometimes, Lydia, one doesn't want to be brought down to earth. :)

I'm sorry to hear about the bad news of the op, but lots of people would prefer the general anaesthetic to being awake for these gruesome things. I'm hoping it goes smoothly for you.
