Nigel slater's cooking is making my mouth water.
For supper I have....nectarines and some red currants. I'll get something out of the oven better for tomorrow night.. Anyone else finding eating a bit of a bore in the heat?
Doozer dog has gone to sleep in the sitting room, and I feel like doing the same. DH is still in Town. Very grim start to the weekend.0 -

I can't be bothered.... I've been grazing on crisps, toast and chocolate for four days.
Oh no, I love Nigel slater. I cannot ever agree. His fridge is not cheap, but its not wasteful, its good food. I love his food diaries, the ways he buys trays of a particularly yummy fruit and eats it for a few days til gone for example.
I love the way he cooks and eats, its both familiar and comforting and yet fresh and exciting. The way he gets fads is natural and feels real to me, I love his food.0 -

In a room where you also have a chrome heated towel rail would a silver painted cast iron radiator be too tacky or ' uniting'? ( Factory painted, not tackily home painted). Grey was my first choice but seems too flat when i visualise and white seems wrong too. I don't want to repaint one of those complicated beggars and I might well repaint the room on occasion.
My advice, based on experience, is very simple - none of the above, unless it's too late.
We had a towel rail to heat our bathroom, and a very cold bathroom as a result. We ripped it out and installed a huge, double panel radiator. Over it, I put an Ikea Grundtal kitchen shelf to use as a towel rail. It looks like this, and the towels hand between the rails. I cut it down so it only has four rails, but unless your space is limited I wouldn't bother. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
As a rule, I don't heat any bathroom/shower room... seems a waste and you're not in there long.0

GBD - what a great idea.
I'll definitely be doing that (assuming I ever manage to get a bathroom to do it in)

Too late!
Towel rail is here, but is not to heat the bathroom, just the towels. The rad will only fit under the window, so cannot be double and huge.
In the longer term this bathroom will serve one, or at very most two bedrooms, so i'm content the heated towel rail for towels will be ok)
Nice builder also solved my be autocratic issue with the office with a radiator and only one door......the OLD BATHROOM! we can whip out the stuff and have an office !!! spare bedroom for not much money ( there are few other needs....a separate phone line for example) but it seems the best solution by far.0
