What's "special ironing a pile of his underpants"? Surely there's no need to iron underpants. Only you and he ever see them....... and if anybody else sees them it's a Doctor at A&E, who won't care, or his other bird - and why should you make his bits look nice for her??
He had washed them and hung them out to dry. I took them in, smoothed them flat and then the heat off the lids of the boiler knocks the creases out.

He made up the bed and put the duvet cover on. I was in charge of the pillow cases. I put three on and declared one missing. A big pillowcase hunt ensued. He found it ..on the bed. I explained it was patterned and camoflaged because it matched the duvet. Mr S thinks I am dense. As I said...sloshed.
Another hen hatched a chick today. It only has one eye and is missing some skin..but seems quite bright. Chick is doing well and we are rooting for it. Hope it makes it, and it is not a boy.0 -

I'm doing my annual visit north soon and need some advice.
This might be more relevant to GDB or any of the east of England NPs who've visited Andy-Murray-land. Has anyone any experience of travelling up the east coast to Edinburgh? I'm thinking of the A1; any tips, supermarkets for cheap petrol, or is it just a rubbish route?
I've always reckoned the west coast's the only way (M40/M6) as seeing as how Bristol's east of Edinburgh, but my info may be out of date
The M1's cursed AFAIK. There's always roadworks, pileups and/or carnage blocking the route .
It will mean I can wave at GDB, CK, viva, sc, Nikkster, brallaqueen and masomnia instead of my usual doozer, jb, lj, chewie, wheezy (how's he doing?) kabayiri, bugslet, allthesss's route. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Phew. If they turned up at my house, journeying out of their way, I would expect the worst.

He rang to say he was around, and could he pop in, and sounded pretty relaxed. I feared no evil (-:
He also brought a dozen jars of marmalade, my mother's contribution to Isaac's school fete next Saturday.Nice one!:rotfl:
Dad's deffo got his head screwed on right!
My Dad doesn't tend to use cash machines - or rather, the cash machine he tends to use is Mama's purse. She sometimes finds that a bit irritating, if she thinks she has £200, and suddenly only has £40....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Take a train instead? I used to drive Sheffield to Peterborough fairly regularly, and never had any problems on the A1. Always a pleasant journey. I can't say what it's like nearer to London or further North than Doncaster, but I can't imagine it's too much worse.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. It's quite a good way to get to Glasgow if that was the plan. In fact as mentioned before it was quite practical to fly up to test-drive a car. buy it and drive it south while tearing up the return plane tickets.;)lostinrates wrote: »I'm cooking lamb in hay tonight. I just unwrapped it and its barely cooked. It's all reswaddled and shoved in the oven now.
. Hope it cooks better in there.

I've had chicken in a basket but this sounds like more at the porridge in a string bag end of the practical culinary continuum.
It's done now, I'll tell you if the experience merited a change to the usual.
We've done it before when burying the meat but not this Cheaty hay and oven way. Burying and slow cooking is huge fun, but only really worth if for a big crowd.0 -

I wish! The train network's all in the west of Scotland (I think at one point most of the world's trains were made in Springburn's Cowlairs factory) but we're going east.
Well, if you're going to let every tiny detail put you off..........much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
