Morning all - sorry I've been a bit quiet, things have been a bit busy!

It was Isaac's 8th birthday on 17th (Monday), and also one of my sister's birthdays on the same day. So we spent a lot of it on the phone giving and receiving birthday wishes, and trying to arrange a time when both my brother in South Korea and Isaac were awake so they could Skype.

I also had to make a couple of sponge cakes with chocolate butter cream icing for Isaac to take to school.

Happy birthday to Bugslet and Spirit!

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Good morning!

Feel better this morning. Have apologised to parent (hint hint to spirits daughter) and feel that's a weight off my chest.

Haven't done any clothes washing of current favourite clothes and not sure what I'm going to wear today, but feel like I might drag myself out of pathetic ness to get my sheets washed and a load of clothes through today. :).

Glad you're feeling a bit better, LIR.

And I'm with you, think Spirit's DD should be practising her grovelling apologies.

Silercar that is so sad. It puts my day into context.

I went to the IOW to chair a meeting of a large project of which I am the unwilling SRO. It was a meeting that needed a number of issues disscussed, opposing views reconciled and decisions reached. We covered all points and 'got' all that was needed done. There is a board incl the partner CEO's later this week and I have to report progress. The meeting ended on time (4pm) and I got back in my car to drive to the ferry feeling like "I did that really well", aka ...a bit smug.

Before I reach the ferry I get a call to say that the board of one of the partner organisations...is suspending the programme. I then have to break the news to several others...and deal with their immediate anxieties about how it will effect people incl them.:(

It is also my birthday. I had agreed not to open my cards/presents this morning as DD had to be at work for 8am and could not be with me. So this evening...she is riding a horse for someone and cannot be in at tea time..so no pressie opening then..nor cake eating. We are going out for supper...DD dresses in faded/washed cannot be bothered clothes and when I say this she decides to stay home and adopts a 'spoiling tactics attitude'. We go out, me feeling a bit miserable Mr S annoyed. She is 25 !!!!!!!!!

On arriving home post supper (really nice gastro pub) I want to open my cards/pressies at last. She is still full of attitude. I decline to open gift/card from her. DD posts my uncut birthday cake into the kitchen bin.

DD is now in tears. I am definitly in I love her but do not like her frame of mind.
No doubt there is some complicated psychological explanation centering on your Dds fears about your getting older probably linked to the shock you gave them with your earlier health issues along with a sprinkling of her being an adult and needing to fly the nest....or it could just be the same thing that makes me think my Dw needs certifying once each month...
    I think....

Yup. Never said I was nice. Don't worry though, I was trained by the best (a.k.a. my mum) and she definitely gave as good as she got (or maybe its me who gave as good as I got).

Was just pointing out that Spirit's daughter was not alone (not to excuse her behaviour).

Its also mean to suggest that Spirit's daughter's birthday should be cancelled though :)

Happy belated Birthday Spirit....and that sounds a horrible experience.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Happy birthday spriti! i hope the drama has resolved itself now after everyone has had a sleep.

I am sore and achey after a day of not-intense-work. This is fun. Also spectacularly sneezing with itchy throat. antihistamine time. :(

But I did have banana bread for breakfast :D

    Breakfast?

    Too early for that, definitely.

I'm going for PITA - sorry Spirit but I have terribly limited patience with people that have attitude. Get away with it in their teens, after that I think you should have grown up enough. I hope you had some nice time somewhere in your birthday.

Friends, both virtual and real came round with food, cooked and all I had to do was sit and enjoy. Unfortunately one of them brought a rather nice bottle of red round, which mysteriously I seemed to consume all of. After a glass of rose. The dogs have not been walked this morning:o

Banana bread...hmm, perhaps I'm not feeling too bad. I'm happy to taste test for you:) From years of working odd hours, I can eat anything at any time, which frankly explains my girth.
