Oh, poor lir, do you think they brought them for you to make you feel better?

DH is coming home this evening so I am very happy. Cleaning the house like a mad woman at the moment.

    Hurrah.

I hope you enjoy being reunited. He'll be bound to feel better just for being at home with you. :)

I think they did it cause they wanted to, nothing to do with me. :rotfl:

I'll sort it out soon. Before then I'm taking ndg's advice. :)

LL's just randomly turned up again ... let himself into the neighbour's back garden and into his (own) shed. I bet they're mightily p155ed off really.....

... and I just heard them saying (husband/wife LLs) about sorting out the weeding .... so it sounds like they'll be lurking/around titfering about their property/parking/shed areas on a regular (annoying) basis.

Lir, as you like children's books, I thought I'd mention that the Carnegie prize winner has been announced. It was this book:

Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Nook readers arrived yesterday so this evening is probably to be spent trying to link them to library books.

Apparently they can also be rooted and turned it to fully functional (black and white) android devices but that will no doubt go on to my extremely long 'to do' list. Housing development and working full time do not seem to mix :(
    I think....

    Hi all.

I agree with pretty much all you have said. Silvercar, I do not usually commentate on her clothes - however it was the cumulative CBA effect from her yesterday that reinforced how selfish she was being.

It does not usually feel that she needs to move out urgently as generally we get on pretty well . However she does need to move out - on good terms- in the next year. This is simply so she 'fledges'. Finishing her MA and coming to terms with adjusting to life without our friend are the priorities this year.

Daughter apologised last night as she said she did not want us to go to bed on an arguement. Tonight we have sat together as I opened my cards and gifts from her.

As Nikkster hinted it is a mother/daughter clash. There are posts on this thread form time to time that report tensions with parents. All upsetting and frustrating at the time. Her binning the cake was out of character...and tonight I think it quite funny...it will become a family legend. I appreciated somewhere to be honest about this squabble, as I post when things are good it would feel false to 'hide' the irritations...as if projecting "its all terribly lovely here in Spirit world". As I said in my original post ..the loss told of in Silvercars post put context and perspective to my day.

michaels was very close to the core of somethings. I usually find my own birthdays hard and do not like fuss to mark them, but yesterday was 10 years since I came home home from hosp with new grafts - and that is what I felt like celebrating. DD had made me a heart shaped cake, decorated with hearts and given it to me early as she had the insight to know that birthdays are better for me low key. Today when I had not arrived at my office by 10.40 my boss called home as she was worried I had had some sort of health event . I had actually had an early crisis meeting about the work problem, but had not let my PA know:o. Fortunately DD called back before she set off in search of me. When OH is away she does get lumbered with 'responsibility' by anyone who cares about me. It is like LiR...I am an adult...but I give others scary moments..and DD becomes the responsible adult.

Thank you for the birthday greetings,

NDG - happy birthday wishes for Isaac.

I think it quite a swizz if you now have parties and send in cake to school on the day. There is definitely birthday celebration inflation since my dd was at school.

Viva..hope your husband is safely home and that he recovers well with the best outcome he hoped for. Please let us know.

Miss K I expect your parents would have been relieved to be able to have communication with you and assure themselves that you are OK. I am sure you are precious to them. Listen to the aches and pains you have. Make a phased return to work and allow yourself to heal well...you had whatever done for a reason...and it wasn't so you could compromise your recovery for a lab/work deadline. I am - a past master of screwing up this post-op part. Ultimately there is nothing heroic about a martyr in the workplace.

Well done, Miss Spirit :) The cake sounds really sweet (as in cute, but I guess it will also have been sugary!) too.

Its still possible to have the mother/ daughter clashes from a distance ;) I think I am enjoying my re-fledging more than my mum... there is a fair amount of upset that I'm not a lot closer (I'm not so far away in miles, but its a lengthy journey). I did really enjoy being back (and it was very useful in terms of allowing me the space and time to sort my head and job out), but there were a number of times where a row was brewing so I would take myself out for a long walk to allow everyone to cool down :)
