Why hire a cleaner if you're going to clean the place anyway?

As you all seem to think I take money saving to far I trhought I would describe a purchase on Sunday.

(Bosch) Steam generator iron was broken (again, it had been replaced 3 times under the 2 year warranty but this had now expired) so we needed a new one.

First stop hotukdeals to see what was available and cheap (and not a Bosch or a Morphy Richards which we have also had before and has been rubbish). Best deal was a phillips at Currys reduced from '179.99' to '89.99' (145 at Amazon, CamelCamelCamel checked).

So next off to topcashback/quidco to see what was on offer - both had 1.5% for order online and collect and it was in stock at local store so order placed

Off to the shops - currys? No, Morrisons of course where out comes the 3% cashback credit card to purchase £90 of Currys gift vouchers. Why? Buy vouchers at Morrisons and you get 1p per £10 of vouchers discount on petrol so £90 vouchers = £5.40 off a 60l fill up.

Then on to Currys. Time to discuss extended warranties - £20 gets you an immediate replace service for 3 years. Offer to pay £100 for iron plus warranty accepted by sales person, which they put through the till as a £10 discount on the price of the iron. (I know, missed a trick, should have gone for £100 of vouchers at Morrisons but putting the last £10 of the purchase on credit card at least gives me section 75 protection)

Finally home to look up on saynoto0870 the number to cancel the extended warranty for a full £20 refund. :)
    My method:

She's not going to clean. She's going to tidy. They're different. Tidying means getting stuff out of the way so that cleaning can be done.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I own one but I only use it very rarely. I don't iron any of the stuff that needs to be washed frequently - I choose to wear stuff that will look OK after a quick tumble followed by hanging up. However, I have one summer skirt for work that I wear once every week or two during the school summer term. It doesn't get very dirty and doesn't need washing every time, but when it does get washed it needs ironing. I can't think of anything else I've ironed recently.

So, what is the word for fighting a running battle with the huge (potentially radioactive) house spiders?
