We have separate accounts always have done always will do. Main asset in joint names, others (cars etc) in individual names. We have no kids so have a rule that we can spend whatever we like on whatever we like providing the basics are covered and it is not the other person's business. It's very hands-off but that's how we like it. We don't have kids. It isn't a high risk strategy as we've been together a long time and have very similar attitudes to money (as in we're both pretty prudent).

Same with us. We have a joint account which we both pay into which pays all the rent, bills and joint expenditure like holidays, nights out together. Our salaries are paid into our own accounts and we pay different amounts into the joint account pro-rata with our relative earnings. I have absolutely no interest in completely combining my financial affairs with someone who owns a billion pairs of shoes.

I know I shopped more before I got married.

Otoh I also made sure my legs were shaved and never slobbed out. :o

I think in fact it's the cold that has seen me grow leg hair. I remember contorting myself when I couldn't walk to shave my legs:rotfl:

It's rained here a bit, a few times.

Took me a few looks to work out the sax - partly because I have to scroll on my screen to see things and so missed it :)

Coral is nice, I like leaves and stuff. I had started "working on" some organic projects when the !!!! hit the fan 2 years ago and I had to halt everything overnight..... but it's still on my list of things to do.... er, when I get a house.

There are holly bushes in abundance locally.... where I was living 6 months ago there were a few new/small holly sprouts in the woods I'd have nicked if I'd had a house/garden.....

Dh even chose window latches that looked most like saxes. I think they look like sperms. But w both like them, so no one is complaining!

The sun finally came out here halfway through the afternoon, prior to that it had been a dull and yesterday cold weekend - I was surprised when I spoke to my DS yesterday who is not far from LIR and Lydia for her to suggest the kids had been in the paddling pool as we were 11 degrees, cloudy with a cold wind at the time. However we are doing sick house with me, DD1 and DS all running temperatures and colds/sore throats so sitting indoors is not such a downside - although I have also taxied DD2 to her 2 ballet performances so there has not been that much relaxation to be had.

LIR I'm glad you have got the piccies working, there always seems to be so much that is 'fun' rather than just functional in your house. We redid the front bed with my parents last weekend and the blossom tree they gave us last year is now flowering, however I need to do a photo in the morning to do it justice as it east facing.
    I think....

Tip the people on a gardening forum I occasionally visit gave the tip to photo flowers /plant life in the shade or on a dull day.

Houses on the other hand, always look better in the sun I think!

Thank you for the compliment about the 'fun' things in the house. :). I keep thinking....it will be nice when its done! In the study we are hoping to have one mid level 'museum' shelf in the book cases for dh to have his 'knock knacks' on display behind glass so that he can have clutter and I can not have it all at the same time. He wants to put his fossils there, and some birds nests he has found, and things like that.

we have a joint account, everything. we maximise savings by putting it in lower taxpayer's name but we have similar attitudes to money and similar ways of spending money so we don't have a problem.

but everyone has their own way that they are comfortable with.

i apologise in advance for the rain that will be following. I am about to get a skip for the garden waste (too much for me to deal with). Every time we get a skip it rains for 6 months.

Lichen isn't the cause of a sick plant; sometimes it can be a symptom because sick plants can leak nutrients that the lichen can use to grow, and sick plants often don't have thick leaf cover which gives more sunlight to the lichen which it needs.

Pfft. It will save me watering the garden at least.
