    Oh, aren't we flush...

No, 'we' aren't flush. The only reason 'we' aren't skint is from going without, and doing exactly the same things as you such as shopping around, trying to make sure my savings aren't in old accounts. It would just take more than £80 a month for me to put my money in someone else's name. But then I've got a poor record for choosing partners so that's probably for the best. I'm glad it works for you, was only saying that it wouldn't for me.

Sorry if my flippant comment offended you, I hope you know it was meant in jest and I do understand that it is a recent history thing for you so I guess perhaps I shouldn't have said it at all. That is one thing with on-line conversations, you can't immediately see if something has been taken the wrong way and explain yourself...

For me as I don't really like working, 1000 per year equals 8 fewer days per year I will never have to work.
    I think....

Sorry from me too - I shouldn't have bitten back! I'll blame it on getting back from a swim (LA fitness groupon - works out cheaper than the council pool if you use enough of the day passes ;)) and needing something to eat/ drink.
If someone said I could have and extra grand a year for no extra work, of course I wouldn't say no. I just wouldn't do that.
Well not unless I was the one who got to mind the money :D
I'm sure you and your DW trust each other enough to make it work. And being married/ having children changes the scenario a lot too.

    Change of subject.

I just snapped a pic of this joyously coral red new shoot on one of my pear trees..

I know I missed a bit when painting the fence. But doesn't the coral look amazing against that fence colour?

    Yes it does :)

Whilst walking around this afternoon, the sun came out :)
There are a lot of tree-lined streets (and even the odd avenue), and they look so gorgeous at the moment.

And I am doing quite well [STRIKE]covering up[/STRIKE] incorporating this charming piece of garden art with the pleached pears ( this os a different pear to the one with the coral shoots though) and climbing roses. Lots of ros! buds. Soon its going to be a riot of colour there!

Saxophonists are obsessed with sax objets d'artes more than any other musician is with representation of their instrument I think.

It's been sunny here all day, but we thought it was meant to rain. We planted two beautiful hollies today. More well grown than we usually buy but they are filling a gap and hollies are so slow growing that we decided it was worth buying two big plants.

I hope they do better than out other hollies out by the drive. They all look very ill and might well need to be replaced with something else, but I cannot think of what I could choose that would look so good in that spot. :(

Anyway, we went to my favourite nursery to get the hollies and the woman there and we have quite a good rapport. She told me she has a small holly that was gifted to her and she cannot sell and doesn't have room for so I am to pop back next weekend and she will give it to me :).

You've just reminded me - last year, a few of the plants in my parents' garden looked like they had lichen growing on them. When I was back last, the plants didn't really look like they were doing very well (it was quite wintery, but still). Any idea what might be the problem? I did look it up last year, and my best suggestion was that lichen grows on plants that are struggling, rather than being the start of the problem per se.

I now have 'The Holly and The Ivy' playing on loop in my head :rotfl:

It's rained here a bit, a few times.

Took me a few looks to work out the sax - partly because I have to scroll on my screen to see things and so missed it :)

Coral is nice, I like leaves and stuff. I had started "working on" some organic projects when the !!!! hit the fan 2 years ago and I had to halt everything overnight..... but it's still on my list of things to do.... er, when I get a house.

There are holly bushes in abundance locally.... where I was living 6 months ago there were a few new/small holly sprouts in the woods I'd have nicked if I'd had a house/garden.....

No idea I am afraid. Someone on the green fingered board might, especially our own davesnave. :)

We just had a minor drama, we couldn't work out why the dogs kept barking then realised the cd machine had switched on to another loaded cd, a musician called Paul winter who plays with wolves. The dogs were mightily excited.

Next loaded cd is Shostakovich. It's a bit ...down...for the nice evening, but at least the dogs have settled.
