I was going to suggest we play the ACORN postcode game on upmystreet.com, but now it's been bought by cr*ppy Zoopla I can't find that feature anymore:(, it's probably behind their pro section.
I just found a site that sell that information - and they have a free "have a go" box: http://www.postcodeanywhere.co.uk/customer-profiling/try-it-now/

But as I rent a garage ..... it probably doesn't count for much :)

    Lydia.....

    Other physics minded people.....

All our heaters are plugged in and I failed to find any calor gas bottle heaters suitable for indoors today (we had planned to buy two and put one at the foot of the front stairs and one in the kitchen facing the rest of the house but after we said they were for indoor use the people wouldn't sell them to us...grrr.

So, one of the things we have opn ATM is a work light...it throws out a lot of heat but of course it's noT cheap. Something that occurred to me is that where the fireplace is and the lit has hit the brick the brick is warm. Would it be better use of the light to shine it at this internal protrusion of bricks rather than the open room, so that the 'wall' acts like a storage heater?

With a non-scientific mind: remembering the discussions about foil behind radiators, could you tape foil to the bricks and let the heat be reflected back into the room?

I could. :). But that doesn't give the brick chance to hold the heat and deliver it more slowly but perhaps for longer? I was thinking of using is a bit like a wood burner v open fire?:o

Just about to get a load of washing in the tumble dryer too. On Monday we might see if we can find some of those 'decorative' electric heaters that look a little like wood burners.

    I think mine's out a bit:

    Comfortably Off

Considering there are no flats and a lot of 3 bedroom houses, not sure that's right. Funnily enough, it says the same for my parents and it definitely isn't right there. The comfortably off is right, but that's about it.

I would hazard a guess that the bulbs for the work light are limited life and possibly expensive whereas at this time of your it should be relatively cheap to pick up an oil filled electric radiator...just a thought.

I guess the answer to the heat storage question is are you trying to acheive a long lasting level of warmth or do you just want to 'spot heat' the room while you are in there?

Doesn't Chewie live in even posher Richmond?
    I think....

Agreed, you are right :). but I am thinking about tonight and tomorrow, I will buy more heaters on Monday (I might continue the search for gas bottle ones though, even if I have to buy on line. )
