My understanding: Paul McKenna recommends leaving some food on the plate at the end of a meal (which can be referred to as Paul McKenna). If you leave a second bit of food, you could refer to this as Barry Manilow?

I think I would struggle to put Paul or Barry in the bin. They would end up in a box in the fridge either to be eaten later (defeating the point) or for one very strange meal at the end of the week :rotfl:

    This is it! Perfect.

Sometimes Barry or Paul are dog or cat safe. Barry is always the easier bit to leave.....

All I know about Paul McKenna and Barry Manilow is:
One does some magic stuff, one's got a big nose and sings.

In relation to small and family cars - we have a car that everyone assured us would be completely unsuitable once we had a baby, but it's actually fine. It's 3 doors, and fairly small, but works for us. It's a Fiat Brava.

I took it in to the garage this week for a service and MOT, and it was, as usual, fine.

We acquired it in 2001, I think, and it was then 3 years old. In the last 13 years, it's needed a new exhaust, new battery, and shock absorbers, along with the usual brake pads and a couple of new tyres. That's it - and even when left in snow, ice and frost for 3 weeks, it starts first time, never breaks down, and is nippy and fun to drive, and easy to park (1.6 litre engine).

Can't see any reason at all to get shot of it!

Mine is a 2001, an astra.
When I bought it (about 7 years ago) the exhaust looked like it needed replacing. I then found out it has 2 outer cases (something to do with the cat. converter). Anyhows, I thought I'd wait til it started blowing before replacing.
    Still got the same exhaust!:)
It also still has the original battery!:)
Think I've replaced 2 tyres since I've had it.
I'm still of the opinion there's no need to change what is clearly a well built car. I'm approaching 100,00m miles, & given it takes me 2 years to make a decision, perhaps I'll start thinking about a replacement in a year or 2.:D

I was brought up to clear my plate so as not to waste anything.

So was I at home but when eating out it was considered manners to leave some. Just one of the many "You can do it indoors as long as you know what you should do & do that when elsewhere".
It went with staying at table until everyone had finished & such things

I'd just like to say I am so proud of the nice people that a clicker trained chicken makes no one turn a hair but Barry manilow confounds. The world is alright by me when that happens.

I don't often come across others who don't drink. So a special wave to viva and tomterm. :hello: Does the NPT have a higher than average concentration of us?

Oh yes another non smoker, non drinker and no drugs here.

The ideal of an ice cold beer does tempt me but I find it makes me feel nauseous long before I feel chilled.

I hardly ever drink, so much so that I'm practically teetotal. I think the last drink I had was christmas 2011. Urge hardly ever takes me. Plus I'm usually the driver - until recently, in my circle of friends I was the only one with a car.
Can you still get teetotallers' car insurance? Some Christian Science friends of the family had that years ago.

Lydia I will be emailing you later!

Never knew something like this existed? Does it still?

We didn't really eat out much when we were younger (nor do we now as a family tbh), but it would have been even more important to finish everything in that situation - it had cost so much more!

We had to stay at the table until everyone had finished whether in or out of the house. One of my parents has abandoned this - we are also trying to train them to not start eating until everyone is seated  (if we are eating a meal all together at the table, they usually get served first).

I'm going with a few mates to see the Specials at de Montford next weekend. If the weather is ok, was planning making a day of it.
Aside from Bosworth field (been there) what's nice to do in the area? What would make a decent day out?

As a PS, as Viva appears to be about, can I post the what's nice to do around Woolacombe question again? I recall she mentioned Lynton/Lynmouth being nice, so assume she's aware of the area?
