Mind boggles at the thought of someone whose social circle involves wearing evening suits enough to buy them. I wear one on average once every ten years.

LIR comes from a posh family :)

He only wears one about four times a year now, (reunion sort of things, maybe one function) but one of those extra curricular job requirements was going to things wear evening suits are required very regularly. Aka smoozing. He is distinctly not posh but ended up in a rather posh job.

Dh has one too. For old job! But it rarely gets worn and tbh, certain that it won't fit him properly now.

When you think about it for those with stable build it makes more sense for ment to own their suits than it does women to own their dresses.....the suits are the same at lots of events, where as the dresses must be enough to not be aired every time at the same events...

I didn't know there was such a thing as an evening suit .... nor could I tell you what one is (unless I google it). I've never even met somebody that had one, knew about them.

Tom also comes from a posh family :)

Nope. My dad had one suit he wore for 25 years.

And I have *never* paid for an evening suit, I have always been forced into it for work.

Edit: I admit I *do* like wearing them, it is fun.

Ah, heard of those - seen them on the telly. All the rest of my comment still stands though :)

Generally I wish people would just speak and write simply and not try and use big words (often inaccurately) to make themselves sound more intelligent.

I worry that we lose the richness of the language by using a very limited vocabulary and do take delight in seeing a less common word used correctly, but sadly I stick to my 200 words or whatever it is you need to get by.

OH is having a mid life crisis - he wants a soft top (car).

You should come and visit us and spy on our over the street neighbours, his and hers latest model soft-tops (he has black merc, she has the white audi, both with personalised plates) and both have perma-tans and faces and bodies of uncertain provenance. Their DD also now has a street-ka :)
Lol, true. It's IS easier for men, but possibly not as fun. Dh loves dressing up though.

Men who enjoy dressing up - always a suspicious sign imho...
    I think....

Well then, he is extremely suspicious. That said this weekend I think he wore his frightful shorts and only the shorts pretty much all the time. Or all the time he was dressed. They are distinctly not dressed up.

Hello everyone, long time no speak! I have been busy preparing myself for my course that starts in a few months, and I am now a single mum (my decision) so things have been a bit difficult but I am feeling very hopeful for the future. I hope everyone is OK and enjoying this lovely sunshine. Will go back a few pages and have a read....

Nice to see you back MM. I am a firm believer that we put of making difficult decisions but once they are made life improves immeasurably and moves ahead much more smoothly and enjoyably than we can imagine .

I am making a short list of dresses to try on for 3 upcoming weddings. Then I can go and try them, and discover they look awful on me.

What do NP think of these two?

I am the last person to ask about clothes but even I thought those dresses looked 'old' for you. However being a guy I wouldn't have dared say so without the ladies having already said so.
    I think....

I've just had a lovely morning in sunny Feltham .

I had a very early start..left home at 4.35am to catch a train to Nottingham. Changed train at New Street and had a text exchange with a collegaue .
Him " I am in carriage c. Me "I am in carriage A".
Him "I v'e walked through and am in A but cannot see you".
Me "I am on the wrong train".

There were two bloody trains on platform Xa...and I was on one going to Stansted:mad:. Had to get off at Leicester and head to Nottingham from there....arrived in nick of time instead of early to pre-meet.

    Got home at 10pm tonight.

It was too long a day.
