    Dh wanted a copper bath

I have a great plan for the copper bath! Pour in gallons of hot water, then let it drain away, and whilst the bath is still hot you can make a giant zabaglione. Yummy! :j
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

After the first litre even the most die hard might have to admit it was a bit sickly!

Leg improved for the little shuffle. I feel utterly victorious :o:D

Ah now, while we're on the subject of giving men dirty looks for checking you out there's something I've been meaning to get off my chest for some time.

I cycle a lot, really a lot by almost any standard and about 10 hours a week of that is done on quite busy 'shared paths', that is footpaths that cyclists can also use.

As a pretty experienced rider, I know how annoying and painful it is for rider and pedestrian both when they come together at any sort of speed. I also know that pedestrians tend to treat a shared path like a pavement and so not look before changing directions etc. I make extensive use of eye contact and body language to try to prevent a coming together of two parties.

What then really annoys me is when a woman looks at me like I'm trying to do something unspeakable (or at least untypable) to her because I looked at her. I find it quite arrogant that just because I'm looking in the direction of someone I'm perving. Half the time the thought that goes through my head is, "Who the hell are you? You're not even that good looking".

It's prolly not a popular thing to say round these parts but I said it and I feel much better for it.

I will always remember seeing an amazing castle for sale near Inverness in the Sunday papers when we bought our 1st micro/derelict house......same price 60k.
I then recall going through all the reasons why we couldn't live in Scotland. Not being able to relocate our work was number 1 and 2, the cold.
    :)

Well I can't beat the work reliocation problem. Have you ever been to Inverness. It's turning into a bit of a go-to place. The architecture and house styles could be English or Scottish.

As regards the cold, the Norwegians have a great saying "there's no bad weather just bad clothing" ;)

I could do with some advice please, NP. About Spain. I'm a bit lost, because this is not the sort of holiday we usually take. Anybody with local knowledge, please?

The plan is to fly into Malaga, pick up a hire car, then stay in a hotel for 2/3 nights before going to stay with my cousins in Marbella for a couple of nights. Then fly home. So far, we have booked the flights.

First problemo - car hire. DoyouSpain are *unbelievably* cheap. £30 for 5 days, CDW included, but they have very mixed reviews. Easyjet are offering us a hire car for over 6 times as much. How do we find a hire car at a reasonable price from a decent firm?

Hotel - where is nice to stay? Not in town, we would like a quiet country house hotel sort of place, up in the hills possibly. How do you go about finding that in Spain?

Wish I could help, but my knowledge is useless here. Went to Malaga exactly a year ago. Loved it. But didn't hire a car as we were on a "boys" weekend away.

Take a photo of the Generali offices there to send to gen.
Great place for meat eaters. Vegetarians better like tomatoes. Not sure how easy it would be to park a car in the town centre which is great and deserves a visit.

    Really envy you.:)

Re joint cycle and foot paths. I think the Danes have the right idea. The joint paths in Copenhagen are great. They have clearly marked lanes and any pedestrian walking in the cycle lane (mostly tourists) gets a bell rung loudly and annoyingly at them upon approach. If the cyclist gets any closer they start shouting at the person. It's a great system because the cyclists and the Danes as a whole are very disciplined. It's only the damned tourists that let it down.

This looks interesting. Graphene may be able to be used with other materials to make an extremely lightweight paint that can harvest solar power for a house:

We've wanted to investigate solar for a long time - one of DH's degrees is in energy - and if this becomes feasible it is exactly the sort of breakthrough we'd jump at.

He's a dog. The idea that I would need to ask whether a hamster was still small enough to pick up is an intriguing one.

Hmmmm. Good point. Remind DD, though, that dogs can be a serious pain on trampolines. My parents' border collies like to add tennis balls to the trampoline, which is potentially lethal on ankles!

I have only bought a bath once before.

One up on me, LIR, I've never bought a bath!

Even so, I look at all the halfwit traders in their 20s earning between 3 and 10 times what I do living in gated communities in blackheath and stupid flats in Mayfair and buying a new porsche every 18 months and think "I thought i was doing ok, where did it all go wrong!".

I grew up in Blackheath - there aren't many gated communities there.
